How rare is my paint?
I have a 92 RS with the green gray paint. I have never seen one with this color before. Does anyone know production numbers on these? How rare is this color?

I knew it was rare. Yeah, I fell in love too. This car is awesome....it only has 77,000 on it. Well, just about. It was a one owner car. I will be keeping this one for along time.
Thanx for the numbers man. That made my day.

Hey GMTech do you have numbers for individual options? If so where can I find them. I wanna know how many cars are just like mine, its got kinda distinct options. It came with basic stock grey interior (prev owner said it was lt blue, all interior is med blue, but the seats were lt blue/grey, I just assumed he was bsing..I have the window sticker at home tho...have to look!) pw. win/lock/hatch hatch defrost, 15 in wheels, and it has lights under the rear view...
Anybody else got one?
Was this avail on Z's?
Intresting story tho Id been looking for a car for about 5 mon and found this in n. Ohio (I live in Atl, Ga) me and my dad both talked to the people numerous times. One owner, 38K, babied, only out in summers, always garaged, bone stock (had an alarm added), and it had A scratch on it..only one tho. The pic in the auto trader looked terrible tho, really bad digi and the color looked like army green. I finnally found a pic of another car this color and decided I liked the color, but I still didnt wanna go to ohio for it. I finally said f it Im not doin anything else this weekend and we went up and it was exactly like they said...a scratch, thats it. Drove up and back in the freezing cold stopping for naps every 5 or 6 hours, it twas rough. Ive had the car for almost exactly a year now tho and i love it. This is actually my fav color for them now!

I'm not your guy but I know the answers. Camaro White Book. It's out of print, but Classic Industries still sells it.
I wanna know how many cars are just like mine, its got kinda distinct options.
No such records exist. If you go to the top of the History board, you'll see a sticky titled, "READ THIS BEFORE YOU POST". Read it!
Was this avail on Z's?
No. Only RS coupes and convertibles.
To put exterior colors for 1992 into perspective, here's the complete 1992 exterior color listing with numbers:
14,779 -- Dark Teal
11,883 -- Arctic White
11,059 -- Bright Red
8,588 -- Purple Haze
7,524 -- Black
5,365 -- Polo Green II (see Note)
5,191 -- Medium Quasar Blue
2,776 -- Dark Red
2,659 -- Dark Green-Gray (see Note)
Note: Only available on RS coupe/convertible.

Willie hit the nail on the head. GM didn't keep track of how many cars got option "combinations". All my numbers came from the same source everybody else has, The Camaro White Book.

You can do some fancy arithmatic to come up with a general number on how many might have been built with all other things being equal.
For instance there were @ 60,000 camaros built in 1992. If only 2659 had green/gray paint then that would be @ 4.43 percent.
If only 25% had leather interior then you could also say that only 25% of the 4.43% had leather. Which would take it down to about 1%. So that would mean that about 600 were made with green gray and leather.
But its only an estimate. And just for fun and argument. Too hard to say what the acutal numbers were.

Blue was an optional interior color in Camaros from 1982 - 1984. The most number of interior colors was, by far, in 1982. From 1985 - 1992, only four basic colors were available in both the standard seating and optional custom cloth:
Black
Gray
Camel (or Beige or Light Brown, depending on year)
Red
All were available in leather (from 1987) except black. And to the best of my memory, red leather is seen in 1987 and only a few 1988's, then for some reason, it was put on indefinite hold. Please correct this if I am mistaken.

MY CAMARO IS THE SAME COLOR... i thought it was called pologreen. it looks almost black with a hint of green and metal flakes... so is this really a rare color? i have seen two in my area. i have also seen some 93's in this color. there is also a lighter green color that is more metalic .
i was thinking about painting mine that 2 tone green/purple paint but itf the pologreen is that rare on the 92's then i may just repaint it that color. mine is the 92 and it has the 25th badge on the dash.
what do ya'll think? to change or not to change?

about the options...
black and grey interior/ seats are front half grey back is black...
ttops, cdplaya, power doorlocks, power windows switch for trunk, ac, 25th badge 15'' rims 3.08 gears also it "had" a world class t5 tranny till i broke it! it was a tbi till i sold the tbi unit and put the perf rpm intake and quadrajunk carb... the paint like i said looks real bad!!!! and i have a dented fender. so i need new drivers fender and then fix all the crack and stuff in the front fascia and i will be ready to paint! is there a rpo # for the paint?
i know its the origional paint because i have the liner off the ceiling and its dark green. almost metalic.
i thought about keeping the same shade then just adding a touch more metal flakes! also i thought about painting the hood scoop silver to match the front and also the skirts silver??? any ideas?

Willie, Ive seen a few 92's with red leather. My fav was a 92 z28 vert, it was black with red stripes (hert pack) red wheel accents red leather interior, 305 w/ a 5 speed, and only 25K miles. i talked to the owners for a good while and they claimed it was all original, and they where the original owners, seemed like real camaro schticlers so i'd think they were tellin the truth!

I read somewhere a long time ago about the red leather -- that GM had a problem with the color dye used back in 87/88. I'm not sure when the problem was resolved and it came back. I wonder if red leather was available in 89, 90, or 91... Does anyone have this? Sounds like a good topic for another thread. I think I'll start one.

Willie, after scouring through the Camaro White Book, it appears that from a span of 1987-1992, 1988 was the only year that R-le (Red Leather) was not offered.

I've got the same color too (thanks grngryoutmyway)
There is a girl that works at my local Advance auto and she has the same car too, "92 RS" but her's is a hardtop and has the pin stripe. I have only seen one other, I was in the dentist office getting a root canal after a recent MX accident and I saw one drive by. I really Love the Color and when I get enough $ to get it painted again I will get the same color.
P.S. I have a tan inerior
