AC Delete - What did it include?

A little weird that I am asking what the AC DELETE "included"...but I don't know how else to word it.

First of all, what years was AC Delete available?

Here' what I think that it included....Am I right?

-AC delete pulley
-AC delete heater box
-a heater and vent-only HVAC control

Anything else?

Another thing I am wondering is if the ac delete HVAC controls only came with the slider or did they come with the push button one as well?

I have an 88 TA with a digital dash. Some of my AC stuff is gone already. I want to do the conversion correctly, but I don't know if that is possible with a push-button HVAC control.

What is the difference between the AC heater box and a AC delete heater box? And on that note would would the effect be of removing the heater core? (I don't drive my car in the winter so I don't need the heater) The only thing I use on my HVAC controls is the front defrost.

thanks,

Well since both my thirdgen's that I have owned have not had RPO C60 I can anwser your question.

First off, it really isn't truly an A/C delete since A/C was tecnically an option. It's listed as a delete in most descriptions of the 1LE package but that isn't correct.

-AC delete pulley
-AC delete heater box
-a heater and vent-only HVAC control

Anything else?
The vents closest to the door on the dash aren't there like on the A/C cars. Maybe I can take a pic later to explain it better.

The push button one was a GTA thing and I haven't seen a non-A/C push button control. It should have been a slider unit.

I've never heard of anyone wanting to remove the heater core. I imagine you could pull if off if you bypassed it and then you would get ambient temperature being passed through the vents from then on.

Here's a shot of the interior of my non-AC 89 Formula.

You can see the block-off plate for the outer vent (the gray one is only temporary), and you can just make out the slider controls for the heater system.
PS: if you think it looks messy now, you shoulda seen it when I got it

All 88' and later V8 cars came standard with A/C, so the A/C delete option would apply. Previous years would just not have the A/C option if you didn't want it. This was most likely done because of the serpentine belt setup starting in 88' so that they could use the same belt and brackets. The lack of A/C on the v-belt setup would just have one less belt. As far as the digital dash, it was an option in the GTA's. I am speculating, but I would imagine that the digital dash would not be allowed with the A/C delete.

What was the RPO code for A/C delete?

Yeah but it was the same serpentine belt. The only difference is there was a pulley instead of a compressor.

Yes, that it why I said that. GM most likely wanted to keep everything standard like the new single serpentine belt. By ordering the A/C delete, the compressor was replaced with an idler pully. It was probably just easier for them to do it that way and since A/C was now standard, most cars would be equipped that way. With the v-belt setup, the A/C components were independent of the other accessories, so it wasn't a bid deal if the car didn't have it, so GM didn't push it.

AC delete belt

Will the Non-AC serpentine belt work on an AC car with the smog pump removed? I want to bypass my AC compressor until I can swap it out, because the bearing is gone in it.

The non-A/C serpentine belt is the same as the A/C belt. The A/C delete option came with an idler pulley in place of the A/C compressor. If you wanted to remove the smog pump, then you would have to measure for a smaller belt, or make an idler pulley.

Exactly. C41 was standard and A/C was a option, coded C60. If there was such a thing as a A/C delete package, my car would have a RPO code listed for it in the SPID sheet.
