HELP with 82 pace car

Ok Tom, Ron or anyone else that knows anything about these cars.

Finally talked my husband out of NOT selling our 82 pace car (sorry tom)

Found some seats Either going to get the ones on ebay or from 3rd gen. But what I need to know is the Right color (shade of) the Carpet, headliner, sunvisor & seat belts.

Hopeing to get the interoir stuff for less than $1k that way this winter it can go in to the paint shop. I alread know that its going to cost for the paint & body work.
along with the decals.

Thanks

Yikes Tammy:

I don't know what to tell you about the correct colours.
I had this question too. As I haven't needed to replace any of those I can't tell you... but I can say that the interior is unique to all the other Camaros in 82. Not sure you can just go out and buy matching Carpet, headliner, sunvisor & seat belts. That blue wasn't used in any other carsI've ever seen. Let me know what you find out.... I could possibly use a new headliner in the future.

I didn't know you were even considering selling your pace car??
Glad to hear your keeping it for now.

You could ask someone to send you samples of carpet and you could try to match it yourself.

I'm so glad you're not selling it. The Pace Car rocks.

Well Unfort. For me the Carpet I have is Slate silver (slate gray) Which I KNOW is not correct.

Ron we were going to sell it because my auld man decided he wanted an OLDER car (pre72) to be able to take down to Hot Aug nights. But he Relized that that would just tick me off. Not only that after trying to sell the car for $2k all I got was offers around here for $1k or even $500. From people NOT knowing what the car really is.
From Car club members I got better offers but they wanted to make payments(some of them we have sold parts to & its taken a year or more to get the money out of them) others were not set up for taking on the car but they were making offers anyways. Because they wanted to own the 2nd 82 pace car in the club.

kerryismygirl89 Heres what my 82 looks like lol not the kewlest looking car around.
http://www.angelfire.com/wa3/ivhorsepower/82.html

But it is one of the Rarest optioned around. Only like 10_25% of the cars had the CFI & Rear Disc brakes.

Good grief Tammy.... what would your auld man buy if he/you got a whopping 2 grand for the Pace car?
A 1st gen car is a lot of money... unless he's looking for a basket case.
If you plan to "give it away" let me know... I'll buy it and drive it back here.
I recall your car was a CFI car with some other goodies I didn't get?!

No I was going to give him a $5k limit for a classic car. Believe it or not we have been seeing 67s camaros going in good shape around $3500 & 70s Chevelles going for just a little more than that. My brother in law picked up a 71 Chevelle Vert for 19K two weeks ago. rough but nice.

As for my Pace car yea its got the CFI & the 4 disc brakes which helps make it Desireable for Collectors. But it needs to be in BETTER shape. As I said those that were offering me that amount didnt know what the car was. they just thought it looked kewl. I did have one guy didnt even bolk when I told him the price. But hes got some problems. Hes buying a body shop in BC Plus most of the time hes spending on his 93 PC

Kerry, What the pics dont show is that in the Engine compartment is got two holes in it Easy to fix but not CHEAP. Since when it goes in to the paint shop they are doing that.
Along with the driver side door is saging really bad & has busted up the GFX which is not going to be really cheap to replace since we are going to replace the GFX with all brand new (NOS or OEM) The steering colum was the wrong one so we are in the middle of replacing that (found one at a junk yard for a 82 firebird).
The car does need work but I couldnt take less than $1500 because thats what I paid for it & plus those that would buy it would get the brake pads & a few other parts that I have bought over the last 2yrs.

Well Tammy,
I hope you hurry up with the project... can't wait to see the outcome.

Did you ever replace the seats?

Ron

Theres a set on ebay as well. but this is a complete set including the door panels. Is going to call around today to find out how much a shop would charge to put them on plus do the Z/28 on the drivers seat.

(thanks Kerry )

Yes... I only need one big clean piece of silver material.
I have a 6 inch rip in the driver's seat (previous owner) that needs attention. Just need to get a replacemant piece sown in.
If you can save a bit that would be great.... but we'll talk about that when you get there... no hurry after so many years.
