how can i tell if my car is a real formula ?

i just did the vin decoder on the site and it said nothing about whether or not it was a true formula, when i bought it i was told it was, but i want to make sure, it has the hood, the stickers, ws6 but i have no orginal paper work or owners manual for the car.

it says formula on the title, and registration, but i was looking at the faq's page and it said that formula's in 91 did not come with the lo8 engine, and that is what mine has.

the vin is 1G2FS23E7ML****** if that helps any ?

The ws6 makes it a formula.You should also have 16 ' wheels.

Well, if it has the WS6 and no gfx, it has to be a Formula. Is WS6 on the SPID label (the one will all the RPO's) or just the parts on the car and you think it has WS6?

it has the 16" formula wheels and no gfx, but are the rpo's the numbers inside the storage compartment in the back of hte hatch ?

is the ws6 and wheels all that makes a formula a formula ?

thats the highlights of formula's. the ws6 suspension, rims and no ground effects.

i was looking on the tech data page and in 91 the engines in the formula's were either 305 tpi or 350 tpi.

someone may have swapped the engine.

Yea, thats probably where the list is on your car. Could be in the center console, but I doubt it.

As for the wheels, its a bad thing to use as a judgement call... those are so easily swapped. Really the WS6 parts arent too hard to swap on either, you need to find the RPO "WS6" on the list in the storage compartment. Then you know its a Formula, you couldn't get a Formula without the WS6.

WHAT MAKES A 87-92 FORMULA???

MUST HAVE ALL THE FOLLOWING (unless changed by owner)
- Power Buldge Hood
- Aero "wrap around" Spoiler
- NO GROUND FX EVER!!!
- Any F-body V8 offered that year. NO V6's EVER!!!
- WS6 Suspension
- 16" Wheels
- Gage Package

BTY, I used ot own a legit 91 Formula with the LO3/Auto combo.

hope that helps, for more info goto http://www.3rdgenformula.com

From what I have learned 6 speeds are VERY expensive, and saught after thus why they cost so much... You might be better off finding an LT1 connected to a 6 speed for your swap. A little less work than an LS1 conversion, but more expensive than a L98 conversion. BUT you can actually compete with 4th gens.

thats my next move
