How can you tell if a car is a 1LE
I know its gotta be the VIN probably, but so far everything on my car has made it check out to be one, 305 TPI, 5speed, oil cooler, 4 wheel discs, don't know about alluminum driveshaft, or about 17 gal gas tank(I haven't been able to drive it, because I gotta sell my 1991 RS first) But I'd like to know, because this Firebirs I've got is either a 1LE or as close to one as you can be without being one.

Look at the front brake calipers. You should see the twin piston if it is a 1LE. It should like like two big bottle caps when viewed from the outside. Just look at your front brakes on your current car ... a 1LE will look very different.
If the brakes aren't there, then it is not a 1LE car. The rest of the myths about what is and isn't there are just that ... myths. There are too many examples of 1LE cars with this and that option.
Good luck.
Mark.

yeah, i kinda forgot the ILEs didn't have AC. Sorry bought that, but seriously my car has wierd stuff on it. Its got an aluminum driveshaft, found out the other day, and 2 cats, some crazy rear end with 3.45 gearing, not the normal 3.42. It also has a wierder tranny and whatnot. Also an oil cooler, so I thought it might of been one, but the AC should have been a dead giveaway.

i see there was all this hype about the 1LE being much faster than tha stock IROC-Z, over where i used to live there was a guy wit a 1le till he smashed into a 18 wheeler.
i always tought it was alot faster since it had tha alluminum driveshaft and all tha other stuff it had. but i guess it aint that much of a diffrence then hehe. nice to know,

Wouldn't the RPO say something if it was a G92, I am not sure if it is one, but if you claim it is, then I guess it is. And if in fact if the RPO says so, what would it say, just G92?

well there were a few wierd ones made.. for instance my '88 IROC Z. Has all power options, L98/auto. Has same suspension options as 1LE, has large baffled metal fuel tank (noticably larger than my wifes old 86 IROC's fuel tank, had NO G92, had aluminum spare, and aluminum driveshaft, had 3inch mandrel bent exhaust with factory stamps on it. 4 wheel disks no 1LE front breaks .. and T-tops!..
I did my history on it and found out it was ordered by a dealer like that. the guy owned a dealership in wyoming. The dealer drove it for 2 years, then gave it to his children as a wedding present. They drove it till 98, and sold it to me.
with all that said.. there were some odd cars
