89 red GTA-need color code!-misssing RPO

I am trying to figure out the color code for my 1989 GTA. There seems to be quite a bit of confusion between the "bright red", and the " flame red".

I do not have metallic paint.

I need the "WA" paint code #.

I will upload a picture. If anyone has the same color, or knows the code, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Jeff

paint code for flame red

I appreciate the quick reply from GMTech

I went to the paint store yesterday, and they said there was 5 variances on my color, without knowing the code.

I also priced out the paint so I can re-paint the spoiler and rear bumper due the clear coat peeling, and it was over $60 for 1 pint of red.

I guess I haven't had to buy paint in a few years...ouch!

Yeah, I knew there were a few variances, thats why I"m not 100% sure, but doing some research, I beleive its the # I posted above. Its really hard to tell by looking at paint chips because something printed on a card won't be exactly what the paint looks like when dry.

I have that exact color (I think) and on the original dealer window sticker it says "Bronze." But it originally said "flame red" but that is scratched out with Bronze above it. hrm...

I have my RPO codes, do you want me to check?

Then your car obviously isn't Flame Red Metallic.... FRM is much more of a "maroon" hue than the one pictured above.

That car pictured is Bright Red... the same as one of my GTAs.

The color code is 81 and the WA number is 8774.

Looking at mine again, it's more red than the one above, but not as red as some of the other FRM ones I have seen. *shrug*

I didn't see the obvious "I don't have Metallic Paint", but is that the right shade for "Bright Red"? I guess since you own one, then you are probably the most reliable source, but from the picture, it looked too dark to me.
Sorry if I led you astray!

comparing codes

I will go to the paint store and compare the two #'s (9535,8774)
and the variances in each of them. I am definately way closer than when I started looking at paint chips.

I looked at the picture I uploaded and it does look a little dark. I probably took it when it was cloudy outside.

Looks like it is more likely the bright red. I hope to make a decision soon. I will post it here when I do.

Thanks for all the input.

Jeff

When you photograph a Bright Red car in low light or under overcast skies, that is exactly the way it looks. I've got hundreds of photos that look just like that.
