I have actually owned both. I absolutely loved the TPI 5 speed car I had and honestly would choose it. It is kinda hard to compare the two, as the 350 car was pretty stock and the 5 speed car was slightly modified. I think the manual tranny cars are more unique, but most 350 cars are faster (most of the time). It really all depends on what you want. Something with more "driver" involvement, or something that you just stomp the loud pedal and go!! I also see about five 350 cars for every one 5 speed TPI car. I am sure lots of people will bad mouth the 5 speed tranny because it was "weak" but I had that car for lots of years and never had any problems. It was also occasionally "flocked" pretty hard!! It was really a fun car!!

Man I miss that TPI 5-speed car..........

350 TPI Autos are, were, and always will be more desirable, and more expensive. They're faster with a better engine.

Car: 91 Z28
Engine: 305 TPI (99% stock) Got some flowmasters for that nice sound that gets you right in the heart
Transmission: 5sp manual w/ G92

In answer to the poll.... I have a 305 tpi 5 speed (G92) and love it. If I had to chose, then that is what I would have chosen anyway. I really love my car and my car gets ALOT of attention. When they find out that its a 5 speed it always gets a great reaction. We also have a 70 camaro that has a beefed up 350 in it that we take to car shows. Its an automatic and when I drive it ( even though I totally dig that car too ) I wish it was a stick. There is just something about a stick that I like. I just feel more involved with the car itself when I drive it. :hail: Great poll.... hope more people give their input.

If it aint a Camaro, it aint nothing....

Car: 1992 Formula Firebird
Engine: 305CID (LB9)
Transmission: World Class T5
Axle/Gears: 10-bolt, 4.10 gears
Seriously it would depend. If the TPI 305 5spd car was a dual cat car with G92 option they would be about the same speed. And the 5spd would be more fun to drive.

But then again there is more potential in the 350 engine.

As far as more desirable as in a collectible then the 350 would win, but for pure fun to drive give me a 5-speed any day. I have owned or driven every generaton, and the auto cars don't hold a candle to the manual ones. I'll drive my LB9 5 speed until it pukes, then drop in a 350.

i have to say after changing my camaro to a 5 speed i get a lot more attention than i did before when it was an auto, the 5 speeds are just more rare.

Yeah I've found this also.

I do enjoy the 5-speed a lot more than the auto.

I have both and like then both of them, the 305 5 speed is more fun to drive most of the time, unless you stuck in stop and go traffic, the 350 is faster at the strip.
Then again the 305 5 speed is now a 350 6 speed, at least it will be as soon as I can finish it all up.

i'm the tiebreaker in favor of a 305 tpi 5 speed car.

i would rather have these cars in a 5 speed.

I just tied it back up. I like the performance potential of the 350 more than the 305. I just like going fast. I couldn't really care less what trans it has.

I prefer the 350 because they are normally a little faster and more hp/torque but if there were 2 identical '92 Z28s, one with 350 and the other with 5.0/5 speed and T-TOPS then I'd actually take the 305 5 spd car because it would be more fun.

The 305 comment is OK but you better watch it there are with the Camaro Crap. Firebird rock too,

(ex-Camaro only guy convinced by a 350 TPI firebird FORMULA, that would beat any Camaro from the same year .) Well maybe not the 1LE car's but what if my Formula is a 1LE .
