That's a crime
Anyone that stores a Camaro should be shot IMHO... These cars were made to be DRIVEN!! Not sit in storage for years... Probably has more hidden problems from not being driven than a car with 100k miles from someone who takes care of theirs....

I would rather spend $2,500 on a camaro vert that needs work and put $17,500 worth of ground up resto and customization into it.
Wait! That's what I did!

If that was a 350 Auto it'd be the exact car I'm looking for 3 1/2 years now. But I couldn't afford 1 like that, more like with 60-70,000 miles and mint.
People are asking crazy prices for mint low mile Thirds already. Especially IROC-Z's.

I like it... thats one clean car. As for the engine, change her fluids and she should be good. Hell, dont spend 16 g's on it, give it to me I do know one thing tho, if i had a gem like that sittin in my garage, NO WAY would that thing have that few of miles on it lol.

The 80s cars should do well even to now, however real old classics like those 60s and 70s musclecars, then you may have more to worry about, but I've seen plenty of fine examples of those (on the road). I have to add that virtually none of today's cars reflect past styling cues....they all seem to borrow from the current trends in the last 10 years. Not all bad, but there is something lacking. (hense the new T Bird and PT Cruiser being the standouts)

In another thread I think it was mentioned that IROCs are the most common of the Camaros and ***** probably knows. I think 1987 was one of the best selling years. The total in 1989 for Firebirds was 50,000 [approx.] Then in 1990 and '91 the numbers REALLY dropped off...just as the Bird was redesigned. Not sure of Camaro figures though, but the F-cars were costly to insure and buy for the younger market. A few adults probably bought those your seeing and had already gone through the vehicle abusing phase hehe
The engine bay looks super, the interior, fresh off the showroom floor. It is a beauty!
The 140 speedo on the 5 liter?!?!
hehe
Three things I noticed were the trunk electronic latch is the same as mine, though it's a trunk lid only being a convertible. Those Delco radios differed a bit at the time, although mine's 89, it had the AM/FM cassette, but more uncommon, the all push button panel....no dials! You'll also notice these include C-quam AM stereo tuning. Don't think they have that these days!
Last, I am partial to the power seats in that Iroc. My 2 cutlass' were super comfy!

what about 82-84 Z28's production numbers ?they mad e ton of them in 83 and 84, zillions... too many.,,, see them all the time more of them than almost anything else running around, but most are rusted out buckets of crap cuz are so old and beat now, so fine original unmolested examples will get more and more hard to find in next 10 or 15 years. and then theyll be like the first gen F bodies.. cept cheaper version..

That combination 87 IROC is more "rare" than you might think. I want the same car with the 350 Auto and its always either the cars don't have T-Tops or don't have that color interior when I find them. (or it's a 305) It's lousy because that is the nicest combination.

In the description it says it has an airbag, wish I had a driver's side airbag in my 88 Iroc... wait, that wasn't an option till 1990...
It also lists console as an option (as well as the roof console), I'd LOVE to see a 3rd gen with a bench seat

there are 3 towns of 20k people and larger around me, ive only seen 5 or 6 82-84 z28s running around (including mine)
i see a whole slew of 91-92 rs's and irocs and later 80s sport coupes... hardly anything for the 82-84... and all of them here are nice and well kept... i see the newer ones with paint flaked off the bumpers and dents and junk...

EARLY 80s
I've found some info from my own Hot Rods of 1983 (circa) and I'll submit those in a thread titled
HOT ROD REVISITED, but rather busy at the moment. Seemed even then there wasn't very much press on the current third gens
Also at the time there was major CAFE concerns, theft issues, economy seemed to address smaller engines at the time versus the big bore [small block] V8s
I do think 1987 was probably the watershed year when the technology formed a great car unity between design and get up and go.
