1988-1992 Trans Am GTA Wheels...
If I were to sell the set that is on my 92 GTA right now, how much would I be able to get for all 4 of them? Would I be able to get $500 for all from a private party of maybe Buy-It-Now on eBay??
This is the best pic I have that shows their current condition:
I ask becuase I have a lead on a set of NOS 88-92 GTA wheels I want but it's only worth it to me to buy them unless I can get back atleast $500 selling mine....

Hi Alex!
I would suggest looking at those NOS wheels first! There was a color difference starting in 1991, I think. I have one NOS wheel still in the box, and the color is different than on my '89 20th Anniversary Turbo Trans Am.
Just thought that I would share,
George

Yeah I remember you mentioning that to me whan I was at your place last. Looking at the pictures of the NOS wheels I've found they are noticeably lighter in color than mine. So I guess they would be 88-90 wheels then correct?
Shoot! So much for that....
Actually taking a look at another picture they look to be a perfect or near perfect match to mine. The first picture I was looking at was taken in the bright daylight.
How much do you think I could get for my rims?
George, how much will you sell me your NOS set for or do you only have 2, I can't remember...

Its hard to say. The least you could do is put them on ebay, pump them up a bit (lightest rims avail on 3rd gens, "rare", etc...) Also set the reserve at what you won't mind letting them go for, that way if you don't get what you think you should get, you don't have to sell them.
P.S. I know the rims aren't "rare" but people who don't know better eat that stuff up. You could sell a fresh steaming smelly turd on ebay if you word the auction right

As for color variances on GTA rims, some 1987 wheels were also a lighter shade of gold than the normal color seen on these rims. I've seen several '87 GTAs at various shows that sport these rims finished in almost a "champagne" color, instead of the metallic gold we are all accustomed to seeing. One GTA I saw was particularly noticeable, as the car's color was Russet Metallic brown, and the lighter-colored wheels were VERY visible.
From what I've seen on eBay and other sites, you could probably get $400 for them if they have no curb marks, scuffs, or scratches.... maybe more. If you are not selling the caps, etc. too that may affect the price to a small degree.
But eBay especially is like the "Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Hyde" quandry... I've also seen pristine (damn nice) sets of these rims sell for $250 with only one bidder on a 6-day auction.... There are just a lot of variables that can come into play at any time. Right now there is a set on there somebody wants $1,200 for....
4L60 is right.... if you decide to eBay the rims you have now, set your reserve $$$ at what you would sell the wheels for and be able to live with. No less. That way you really have nothing to lose. Good luck.

I'll most likely sell them with a reserve of $375 since the front rim has some clearcoat peeling, aside from that they are in VG condition. I'd say an 8 on a 1 to 10. Also I would be selling with no center caps or nuts...
Thanks!

92GTA I've seen wheels like yours go for $500+ before on ebay in used condition, so anything could happen. If you include the center caps and you show a variety of sharp high-rez photos, you have a shot at it. Good luck,

2 weeks ago I bought a set with tires for $150. one front has a gouge in the centercap ring, and the tires are pretty worn.
The price varies a lot from time to time and auction to auction.
