True or False; 89 GTA with LB9?

A buddy of mine has an 89 trans am gta and he claims its a 350 and i looked under the hood at the sticker for the engine stats and it said "5.0 liter, timing 6 degrees" yada yada yada. He then told me that all gta's had the sticker reading 5.0 when they actually were 350's. Is there any truth to this? This is indeed the motor that came in the car, so if the sticker holds true its a 305. Im interested to know becuase we're supposed to line em up and i really think that my iroc can give him a really good run. What would i look for to determine if its an lb9 or an l98?

Screw the sticker, check the Vin. 8th digit is an F for 305, 8 for 350. Stickers could be changed and they used to be $10 a piece, the vin stays with the car forever.

That guy has rectal cranial inversion, or an *** hat, whichever you prefer. GM did not put 350's in cars badged 305's. The EPA would have $hit down both pant legs over that. My GTA says 5.7l on that sticker. I think he may be confusing the fact that the L98 was standard equipment on the GTA, but you could have a LB9 in there. Hell I've even looked at 305 automatic GTA's. If the motor has never been swapped, or the hood, then that car has a 305.

If his car is bone-stock meaning NO engine swaps, there is almost no doubt in my mind that there is a 305 in there. all 350 came with a 305 sticker, what an idiot..(sorry) He's trying to wear you down before the race i bet!!!!!!!! your 5.7 gta should spank him nicely

Sounds like the guys I go to college with, except it's the other way around... My buddy with a heavily modded 66' chevelle w/ a 454, loves to tell unsuspecting people "it's just a 396", as he points to the fender badges, "see it says so right there".

You know they're BS-ing when they claim its a 350 5 speed...but I must admit, this guy is stupider than a lot of the people that have tried to sell me an F body over the years...and there have been some VERY stupid people...
