For your reading pleasure - The first of the players series cars ...:

From an issue call "Camaro Firebird Peformance" put out by editors of popular cars in the spring 1987.

Speaking of Player's cars, this is how they would modify the strut holes to get enough negative camber for racing. It's pretty hard to get decent camber and caster into the third gens, especially earlier ones.

You should see my upper strut tower mounts. They elongated the holes big time! The driver's side tower is almost resting against the brake cylinder! On the body, the holes are sloted front to rear.

I'll have to see if they sloted the holes on the strut. Interesting.

Mine are also all the way over to the inside after I had it aligned for max. caster and negative camber. I think my camber is still just zero on one side and maybe -1/2° on the other, but the strut tower slots look exactly like yours and I even have the same amount of fender showing on the inside. However, I seem to have a full inch between the strut tower and master cylinder. I'm not even sure that elongating the holes in the struts at the bottom was legal, but I guess it's only cheating if you get caught.

BTW, I notice "DOT 5 ONLY" on the reservoir cover. Silicone? I've heard it gives spongy brakes, but I met someone at a lapping day who used it with braided SS lines and had no problems like that.

re:dot 5 ... the car is full of surprizes.

Speaking of cheating ... my car has 3.70 gears in it too! Makes me wonder when those were installed. Not much difference between 3.45 and 3.70, but that little extra might be enough but not enough to get caught.

I'd sure like to find someone who raced this car. Learn a bunch more about the series.

Do you have a players series car as well?

I believe the Aussie Borg Warner rear end came standard with the rear disk brake option in '88, but I'd have to look it up. Also, I think the 3.45 was for the automatic and 3.70 for the stick. I know 3.73 GM 10-bolt gears were standard in the earlier 5.0 Liter H.O. stick shift cars. No, I don't have an ex-Player's car, but I looked at one a couple of years ago and later wish I'd bought it.
