`Last' Camaro Sells for $71,500
This was recently posted on Yahoo news. At a charity auction the "last" camaro (actually it is the second to last, the last one produced is going to Chevrolet's museum) went for $71,500. These are sad times knowing that, for now, no more will be produced.
Long live the f-body!!!

Good afternoon, folks,
--both an exciting as well as a sad afternoon --
We auctioned off the last Saleable Camaro this afternoon at Kruse Special
Interest Auction in Auburn Indiana this afternoon. We donated the
$28,000 Bright Rally Red Camaro Z28 coupe to S.A.V.E. -- (Students Against
Violence Everywhere) and the car sold at auction for $71,500........
Mr. Marc Gembinski of Imlay City, Michigan is the proud new owner of a
piece of Camaro -- and automotive -- history. I'll provide more details
and photos next week.
A "stand-in" Red Z28 was on a center turntable -- surrounded by the 1982
Indy 500 Pace car, the 1993 Indy Pace Car, the 1996 Brickyard 400 Pace Car,
and both 35th Anniversary coupe and convertible Brickyard 400 'lap'
cars....additionally, the Einoder Family of Orland Park, IL placed their
1967 Baldwin-Motion 427 Camaro and 1969 Z28 in the Display. I say
"stand-in" because the actual car is being shipped to Detroit where we will
dealer prep and detail it -- and then present it to Mr . Gembinski in the
coming weeks.
Some more information just for the hell of it.
Good evening, all,
Dan Edwards, our friend from Ohio sent me a note that I found very
interesting......wasn't aware of this, but David Campion and Matt Murphy
have both verified that this is true:
Last Camaro off the line at Ste. Therese.......August 27th 2002 -- Red
Camaro
Last Camaro off the line at Van Nuys ....August 27th 1992 -- Red Camaro --
10 years to the day.......
Last Camaro off the line at Norwood -- August 26th, 1987 -- Red Camaro --
15 years and one day..........
No....this was not planned...the final car at Ste. Therese was to be on
August 29...but because the buildout went so smoothly and we had no
supplier problems or work stoppages, we built out two days earlier.......

Trust me, that WON'T be the last Camaro.
All we heard here at GM back in 2000 were rumours about the end of Oldsmobile....then whaddya know, it happened. Then all we heard about were rumours of GM coming out with a Silverado to compete with the Ford F-150 lightning. Then whaddya know, GM announces the Silverado SS.
These days we're hearing an awful lot about a possible future Camaro, so stay tuned...
