Dark Brown Interior?
My '83 T/A has a dark-brown interior with leather seats. Could anybody tell me which paint color options were available with this interior color? The car is currently white, but I know the previous owner had it painted. Thanks!

Your interior sounds like: Dark Briar Brown, code# 67. Do you have LearSiegler seats? (they have ***** on the sides, and are adjustable).
I do not know which paint colors were available with that interior. Check the cars body tag/cowl tag/build plate on your radiator support, it should have the original color code listed if it is there.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, they are the LearSiegler seats...although they've seen better days. How common was this option?

Well I dont know the #'s, but I have seen alot of 83 T/A's with the Lear Siegler seats. My old 83 had them, and like I said they seem pretty common. AlthoughI have not seen many leather ones, so yours may be a bit uncommon because of the leather.

How original did you keep your '83 T/A? I've looked for some pictures of what the '83's looked like new, but I haven't had much luck. I bought mine last August, and the previous owner had removed all the emblems, painted it white w/ black trim along the bottom, and put 16" black crosslaced rims on it. It's okay looking, but I want to restore it to it's original form. Hard part is determining what that exactly was. Thanks for your help, and if you have any pics of your '83, i'd love to see them!

According to my 83 Pontiac product manual, if you have the dark brown leather lear siegler seats the only exterior colors you could have were White and Silver Sand Metallic. Your lower accent color would be black for both colors (your spoiler and side mirrors should also be black), You lower paint break stripe would be White fading to black, all your decals would be black. The standard wheels would be 14x7 cast aluminum wheels with black caps code N89 (like knight rider wheels). Or if your car is a WS6 then it would have the same N89's but they would be 15x7. Or an optional wheel with the WS6 was the 15x7 N24 turbo finned aluminum wheels in silver or gold color.

I thought the Black spoiler and mirrors were used only on the early production 83's. (The early cars had black mirrors and spoiler, later 83's had body color)
My 83 was originally used by my brother as his daily driver, then my father used it for several years. It was not very original, but it was not modified or anything. It had a Cowl hood due to an encounter with a tree, and it had gold 16X8 Hi-Tech wheels. The car was black with gold trim and a tan interior with the Lear Siegler seats and T-tops, If I get some pics online I will post them. It was far from perfect but it was still a nice car. We sold it when my dad bought the 99 T/A.
What 83 FirebirdS/E said sounds right for your cars color scheme. But like I said I was under the impression that only some 83's had the black mirrors and spoiler.

83firebirdS/E, thanks a lot for all that great info! :hail: The car as I bought it is white with black lower accent color (but no stripes), black mirrors and the black spoiler. I think the car had the WS6 package because it has rear disc brakes (although I guess it's possible that it was converted over). I checked the RPO's under the hood, and there was "672" listed on there, which came up as "LEATHER, LT CAMEL (2j, 91)" Is "LT CAMEL" the color? I'm stumped. Thanks again guys!!

Well, light camel should be tan, not dark brown...I wonder if someone swapped your interior...I wonder if maybe your cowl tag is from another car due to a front end collision?? Just wondering...because Lt Camel sure as hell shouldn't be dark brown...

It's a mystery to me too....when I installed a new front bumper cover a few weeks ago, I noticed the original stripes on the inner edge of the old one, and they appeared to be a very faded black. I guess the next question would be whether or not Lt Camel was available on a white car...?? Again, I appreciate all your help guys!

Did you look up the RPO's on this websight? The RPO's on this site are based around a 91 Camaro. So what was true for a 91 Camaro was probably not true for an 83 Bird. Its just an idea.
The Only colors I have listed for 83 that are even in the brown range of colors are: Red Doeskin and Dark Briar Brown. I am using the Firebird Redbook (it is not the most accurate source)
You would probably have to check a 1983 Product Info. Guide

That's an interesting point...I didn't know that about the RPO's on here. No wonder a couple of the RPO's didn't elicit any response from the database. I guess I need to find a better source for checking the RPO's....thanks for mentioning that!

Hmmmm....guess I have some investigative work to do. Wish i'd asked more questions when I bought the car But, at the time, I wasn't planning to make it look original. Live and learn, I guess.

Re: Dark Brown Interior?
My 84 Firebird has the briar brown interior… Yet the headliner, sails and visors are a light tan… Is this what you are talking about? Could anybody else verify if this sounds right? Did they use a lighter material for those items or is everything supposed to be briar brown?

Re: Dark Brown Interior?
Doesn't sound right, IIRC all interior colors were all color coordinated, .Seats ,Carpet , Headliner , Sail Panels all matched
Check your plate under the hood.
