Help me price this 91 Trans Am

I'm thinking of buying a 1991 Trans Am today and the seller is asking $3K, he seems to already know that he won't get that though. I plan on offering him $1,500. Here's a description of the car:

1991 Trans Am w/T-Tops
LB9/4L60
Burgandy Metallic
FULLY loaded except CD including ALL GTA options such as brown leather GTA interior and GTA wheels.
150,000 miles

For a visual, it looks just like this 91 GTA:

Here are the details:

Car has been wrecked on the front drivers side corner.
Hood is tweaked, new nose cap and left fender w/ no GFX on the new fender.
New Glass T-Tops instead of the original Lexan one's.
No T-Top inserts or T-Top storage bag.
The interior is COMPLETELY thrashed, dash cracked, leather torn, steering wheel cracking, etc.
Drivetrain condition unknown at this time, most likey in need of rebuild.
Cheap a$$ Maaco paint job in a non-metallic burgandy color.

The good new is:
The body is VERY straight. No dents on the entire car and NO body fill.
The exterior is MINT from the firewall back and the front is fine except the hood doesn't close straight and no GFX on that new fender.

I plan on using this car for my project car and it will be getting a 10 point cage, tons of chassis mods, and a 427 super charged engine with a new tranny

I'd say the car is really worth about $1-1,500K. The car very well could be a GTA but I haven't seen the SPID sheet yet, I will later today.

As a T/A, what do you guys think is a fair price for me to pay?

$1000...considering the fact you mainly just want the body why not look for a v-6 bird? I would also go for a hardtop car, since you appear to want something to race.

Car: 99 WS6 / 00 SS / 11 CTS-V / 13 300
Engine: LS1 / LS1 / LSA / 5.7 Hemi
Transmission: 4L60E / T-56 / 6L80E / W5A80
Axle/Gears: 3.23 / 3.42 Auburn / 3.23 / 2.62
You want to use a 150k mile t-top car for a s/c 427 swap?? I assume you have a death wish for this chassis...the best sfc's in the world won't save you here, nor will the cage...

Either buy it to restore it or find a hardtop car. It sounds rough, but cleaned up it would be quite a site...hope someone restores it to its original glory...a '91 TA is a rare find.

It turned out to be an original Dark Green Metallic car A 91 T/A is rare? Well I ended up giving him $1400 cash and he is smoging it and taging it. I'll have the car at my house in my name and registered by the end of this next week. Turns out the engine is in perfect shape and so is the tranny but the tranny fluid smelled burnt so it won't that way for long.

I still don't know if it's a GTA or a T/A because the SPID sheet was missing from the center console, you could see that it had been removed. I'm gonna have have to go to PHS to know for sure. I'll post pictures soon.

Here's the VIN:
1G2FW23F5ML2 01583

Can someone please get me a carfax on it???? Thanks!

I'm with Jason E, I haven't seen very many T/A's 91 or 92. I count myself lucky to own the one I do.

Hey I never said that I don't fell lucky, I mean hell just look at my 92 GTA, it's totally sweet! I'm just saying that this 91 GTA I bought is just sar far gone it's not worth it to the restore and the fact that I HATE to see number matching, all original cars get parted out, is why I turning it into a speed demon. I don't even plan on this car having an interior other than the 10 point cage, dash, and a recaro race seat, which is goo considering EVERY single peice of the interior would need to be replaced at an outragous total cost.

Hey 92GTA..in the pic you showed us, the car has GTA emblems on the side..and how'd you find out the original color? Did you find the RPO sheet in the rear? on my 91 GTA the RPO sheet is in the locked compartment in the rear

Well since it has no headliner knowing the original color was easy. I emailed Jim M. from PHS for Y84 confimation. Remember, that's not a picture of the car, just representation. The SPID sheet for this car was in the center consol, it's an early 91.
