I signed up already, and I have a spare set of grid style tail lights that I don't care if I get them back. I would be glad to send them in to help out.

I'm thinking they would just be replacement lenses, you would pull off your tail lights, dissassemble the lenses from them, then install your new lenses. But thats just a guess.

How would the swapping lenses work if they don't pop right off... or do they? Any way, how much would it cost if we got the 20 people to do this? I would want all red and lightly smoked except reverse lights if I follow through, but for now painting the amber lights red seems to be the cheapest/easiest way to do it.

Well I just got word back that the painting of the grid pattern is up to us.
As for how much $200 a set.
Also, they are willing to make the trim pieces TOO, so the conversion can be done if wanted.
So anyone trying to get grid style without buying a new housing can and get it done the right way.
They will just need a set of the 82-84 year style.
----------
Racing geek did you want
ALL RED SMOKED with clear reverse?

Since we have to paint the black grid lines ourselves and pay $200, I don't think I'm interested anymore. Plus, without the DOT numbers on the lenses, wont they be illegal?

$200 that is a little excessive!!!
I would expect that price if you were giving us the entire tail light.
No thank you

Actually guys, if you look at the site, all the other lenses they've done are much simpler than our grid lights. It dawned on me that our grid lights are some of the more complicated styles of tail lights around, and if you look at their site, the more complicated ones cost more.
For all everyone's whining about how bad hte grids look stock, they finally get an option for some cool aftermarket tail lights and everyone whines.
Typical.

CORRECT.
But something could change as right now were just interested. Until they get the actual lenses and remake theirs, we could have a change in price or design. But Im willing to take the risk for a new product for our cars.
UPDATE: Someone asked for SMOKED RED and clear reverse.....NOT A PROBLEM.

I would join in on the buy, but for just lenses 200 bucks is extremely expensive. If there is a price drop maybe. All the other prices on there website are alot cheaper. Even the more advanced ones. At this price Id rather paint the lenses, may not be as permanent, but its way cheaper.

UPDATE: FROM TINA @ KLEARZ
E-MAIL:
Hi there,
The price is high because they are big tail lights, they have alot of material, and making the molds is going to be really really expensive. We dont do many of these big lenses becaue ppl are not happy with the price. The price is an estimate, once we get them in person, it could be a bit less, it could be a bit more.
What you stated is correct, and the reason why there isnt anything custom for them is probably due to the size.
Tina
Just wanted everyone to know why everything is the way it is.

Camaro grids are pretty complex, but firebird tails are pretty simple and smooth... hmm...

complex? all they have to do is vacuum form them. not that hard. unless they are force injection molding them. In that case it gets expensive.

Re: Group Buy: www.KLEARZ.com Camaro Tail Lights ( Clear, Smoked, Red, DARK Smoked )
Most of you are missing the piont. Your saying I want to see them first and just lenses, that's too expensive. They are just looking for interest right now. If they turn out crappy you don't have to buy them if they look awsome everyone will buy them. Just sign up. You don't have to buy. But if you don't sign up, they won't get made and we will never have another option. No one has to put up money or taillights right now they just want to see if there is interest.

I would like to sign up, but the Klearz website didn't yield a sign up page for me.
I also have a few questions:
1 - Can we get some more pictures?
2 - I was wondering if we could get them with the brakes and parking lights red and the turn and reverse smoked? If so could I get a picture of that?
3 - What is the possibility of them making an entire housing?
4 - How about replacement license plate light covers (the inner lights)?

just signed up. looks unique, and the flexibility on colors and such is kinda cool. $200 is kinda steep, but to have something different than just about anyone, i guess i'll pay to play the custom game. i'd ike to see what the smoked red a few people have mentioned would look like. i may just skip on painting on the grid too, or only do certain lines or something.
edit-
also, i just read the other thread on these, are RS style still available? i have a cool custom idea i'd like to get done, but it'd require the RS lights.

Re: Group Buy: www.KLEARZ.com Camaro Tail Lights ( Clear, Smoked, Red, DARK Smoked )
is there any way to ask them, just to clarify for me? i've got a really cool idea for some custom tail lights, but i need the RS style, all red across the bottom, all clear (maybe light smoke) across the top, with LEDs, inner half white reverse, outer half amber turns. the car will eventually be done in BASF satin black, and paint the inner black piece of the tail lights and the center dividing line in the satin black as well, so it will kinda disappear, and almost look like two seperate lenses in there.

Hi there,
We really dont do any projects where only one person is interested, the group buy is really the only way.
As soon as the holiday craziness is over we will start gathering 20$ down payments from 15 ppl who submited their names.

These taillights arent DOT approved, which is gonna turn away most people (like me). If a cop sees you with clear corners, your getting pulled over in most states. But I guess theyd be good for show cars, if I was to get one it would be the all red one.
