for sale i have a 1988 trans am gta. its all original 116000 miles.very well maintained EVERYTHING WORKS AND IS VERY SMOOTH AND POWERFUL.the car is one of 698 gunmetal metallic/med gray int cars made in 88. it has the original paint still on it acording to several paint an body people ive had look it over they found absolutely no evidence of a repaint,also according to gm there is a very good possibility the car is one of one produced in 88 the radio control steering wheel was standard equip for gtas only one was made without and this car has the standard trans am wheel so probably 1 of a kind.this can be verified with pontiac historical society archive the will reproduce the original invoice .l98 5.7 auto car power everything including both front seats.its the same motor as the corvette but with comfort and back seats.this was the top of the line of firebirds and considered a gran touring car hence the gta name meaning Gran Turisimo Americana.mildy modified with stainless shorty headers,tb air foil by hypertech msd street fire coil custom cold air intake,hypertech fan switch and 180 thermostat, jet stage 2 chip and custom trans work car has tubular lower control arms and panhard bar in the rear. borg warner 9 bolt with 327 gears and flawless posi lock up.the car drives like new no rattles or slop new air conditioning compressor,lines,etc very good ac.no tears in seats or stains.there are a couple minor cracks in the dash but they still lay flat.the interior is excellent for this cars age and even compared to much newer vehicles. original radio works as does power antenna.there is only one dent on the car on the drivers door and no rust that ive found.a vehicle history report is available that shows 5 owner two of which were the dealers that sold it and includes myself.the incident that caused the door damage is the only negative on the report. car never raced or wrecked the damge was caused by another vehicle while parked and is not extensive.it is aproximatly 10 by 6 inches the rest of the door is smooth was quoted 300 dollars to fix with a panel section and color match.glass is all un cracked and factory tinted. rear defrost and foglights work well headlights pop up fine also.car has like new tires though the previous owner kept the original gta wheels for his vette.i have the original wrap around wing as well its just peeled and cracked so there is a regular transam wing on it now,every part that has been modified the original pieces have been kept and are in working condition down to the factory vacum lines that i replaced.asking price is 5500.00obo or trade for equal condition lt1 trans am or formula 94 up contact anthony at 9016065803 or 4172742359 text or call pictures of interior at bottom of thread

i guarantee you there are not like this one. period.second i didnt post it for someone to tell me why its not worth whatever amount.i know what my car is worth and someone who knows the history of these cars know it to.like i said the price is negotiable that means alot negotiable to the right person.its special and i wont sell it to just anyone.

Hey! Would you look at that? Your "one of a kind" 88 GTA came from the factory with exactly the same stuff as my standard run of the mill '88 GTA! Yes, mine was Gunmetal Grey, Medium Grey int, with UQ7 and no wheel controls. It's even got the same NON ORIGINAL base spoiler on it.

and as i replied to scorp31 did you read the freakin add? they all had the radio control steering wheel in 88.except ONE.this one was produced without it. go read the production numbers on the gta source page or gm archive sites.and i never said it was the original spoiler i said i have the original and the one thats on it is a standard ta 87 spoiler.

 

btw how many miles and owners does yours have?and have you research all your rpos to see if yours actually left the factory with that wheel?does yours still wear its originalSHINY factory paint job? dont call me a liar because your car is similar.as i said before i didnt post the add to be criticized or any other bs.ive done my research and i know what im talking about

the spid peeled off and dissapeared i had the local gm service manager do a search with the vin for rpo of the steering wheel and came back as np5 i believe.im working on getting verification paperwork from the archives and pontiac historical society

 

im also still hunting through the car looking for the original biuld sheet as i havent found anyone able to reproduce those or the spid sticker

 

The only thing phs will give you is a invoice or sticker.THEY are not doin packets on 3rd genn anymore.that is what they told me when i tryed to order mine a few months back.but that info from them may help you.

hey gunmetalgta on the source page go to the production numbers and scroll down till you see rpo ut4 thats the radio control wheel then look at total production of rpo y84 thats the gta option package =total number y84 9765 total number ut4 9764. it doesnt come right out and say it but the numbers dont lie according to dealer service computer by vin search for parts originaly equiped mine had np5 rpo which is the standard issue trans am wheel minus controls does that clarify somewhat what im saying?

 

yea rizz the invoice would have the options how it was ordered that sucks they dont do the whole package anymore.im on disability and have kids so moneys been tight tryin to by the info miss the days when theyd look it up for free

seeing as its not very original any more, and that door pretty much needs replacement, its probably in the 3k dollar asking range

 

the door is not as bad as the pic makes it look its only about a 10 by 6 inch section the rest is smooth ive been quoted 300 bucks to weld in a new section of skin where its damaged and paint to match why do you say not very original?the only thing i dont have are the gta wheels as i stated in my add everything thats modified was kept stored and is functional

Likely that the OEM radio likely died hence incorrect steering wheel (possible 1 of 1, but without the SPID or PHS report? No way of knowing)

Good luck on the sale. Fix a few things.& more likely to sale for asking price, but KBB is way overpriced compared to reality, as much as I wish it was accurate, it isn't.....Spend a little $ = bigger return.

 

Good luck with the sale! I agree, this car could get quite a bit better return with a little work. Get a set of crosslace rims for it, they're pretty easy to come by.

 

dont need smog legal around here have all the stock manifolds wing air box working radio i removed to put in cd player like ive said like 3 times nowdont just look at the pics read the add..slowly.i have every single stock pieces stored in boxes all are functional in good shape with exception of the wing being the normal cracked pos the only piece i do not have stored away is the wheels previous owner kept em for his 88 vette .oh sorry im also missing the little clip on fuse box cover to.no ones asked for interior picks and between the blown disk in my neck an 4 kids i havent had the opportunity to take any.id love to have the right wheels but im on dissability and cant afford them at the moment i have 7 people living off my dissability because my wifes been out of work due to illness.its the original paint yea its got some small peeled spots as i stated before.but its a pretty nice paint job considering it was sprayed in 88.ill post interior pics tomorrow if i can finish cleaning it.interior is about 95/6 percent undamaged.drivers visor has a rip in the cloth headliner is nice and unsaggy except the bare edge by the windshield the bord sags alil bit all seat in vgc with one tiny cig burn that happened this morning taking wife for surgery at 5 am half asleep an didnt get the cherry all the way out side before flipping ashes dash is nice but has some hairline cracks center console about 8 of 10 but having it reglued soon as funds allow probly next week but its just a mild seperation carpets 8 of 10 all trim is present in gc hatch cover operates nicley with no sun damage factory gm speakers in good working condition.the car belonged to a pilot he took pretty good care of it the last 60k miles or soand yes i believe he had the emblems replaced several years ago cause original were badly weathered.i have the factory ta floor mats and mud flaps took the flaps off because the were draging my drive way and didnt want to ruin them.any more question?

 

If you understood how to CAPITALIZE a word at the start of each sentence rather than it all look like one run on sentence, it would be easier to read & maybe me (and others) could read the details. Headers...Maybe not for emissions testing, but should still fail the visual since the emissions were tampered with. Lots of people do it & the inspectors miss it more & more these days since the tubes are no longer a normal thing.

And after rereading & use my computers search function for radio & stereo...You DID NOT mention replacing the stereo. Read again for yourself before busting somebodies ***** over something. You mentioned the stereo but you did NOT say anything about taking out a Steering Wheel Control radio. You based what you are saying in the ad SOLELY on the non-UQ1 steering wheel.

Now you are trying to bust my ***** over me pointing out your mistakes Own up to them & move on & stop trying to put the blame elsewhere for your mistakes.

Honestly, we're just trying to help you out. Some people just don't understand how important good grammar, good accurate description, and plenty of pictures are to selling a car successfully. I mean seriously how do you expect to sell a car any where without posting pictures of all of the important areas. I usually pass on vehicle adds if I see no pictures, it's not hard to post them. Why would someone want to buy a car sight unseen or without important details noted. It's just common sense.

i don't have stering wheel controls either. but the NP5 code says "leather wrapped,steering wheel and shift ****" which is what mine is, but it doesn't say anything about steering wheel control delete. that also looks like an 89 firebird steering wheel. non control wheels look like the one in my car and have a gta emblem in the center. also being an automotive technincian for 15 years the steering wheel controls broke alot and to replace them was expensive. it was much cheaper to buy a steering wheel without contols then to replace the the controls itself.
