The MAF sensor is further forward in the air intake, just behind the filter.

In your pic, it is just behind the radiator cap.

IMHO, 8k is asking a bit high, even though the miles are low on it.

any info on this "black widow edition?" havent heard of it. also, those are GTA wheels, and GTA's were not introduced until 87.. unless all four wheels have the deep lips, then they are off an GN or GNX buick.. beautiful car though... GLWS!

Re: 1986 Trans Am Black Widow Edition

I have a question for firebird owners; When looking at the gauge photo, I noticed that the odometer is able to accomodate mileage in the
100 thousandths. This car is one year older than my Camaro, which only has the 10 thousands odometer (before returning to zero). Were the odometers on the Firebirds and Camaros different in the eighties?

Re: 1986 Trans Am Black Widow Edition

My 85 and up Trans Am dashes look like that. The old style, more like the camaro gauge was the old 82-84...

I don't care if the car is priced high or not, its beautiful! I am subscribed to this thread to see how long it takes to sell. I live in Lakeland but I'm overseas right now. Not sure how long the car will stay for sale, but one never knows...

As I said, beautiful car!!

Re: 1986 Trans Am Black Widow Edition

What makes you think it is a "Black Widow Edition" anyway? Is there a decal or emblem or something? Can you take a picture of it?

Thanks.

They aren't GTA wheels, they are PW7 alum wheels. GTA's just happen to get gold ones, but they became available in 86 iirc. My 88 Trans Am has white PW7s on it.

Very nice car, though!

Look again. Only 1 white digit. It only goes to tenths. I have never seen any car that goes to hundreths.

Re: 1986 Trans Am Black Widow Edition

I THINK he meant that it would read over 100,000 miles. The older ones used to only go to 99,999 and then flip back to zero. The newer ones have to go a million miles to flip.

I don't think he was asking for thousandths, but thousands, but I'll let him respond. I know what he said, but it just seemed in context that it was the wrong word.

Re: 1986 Trans Am Black Widow Edition

BlackenedBird and KrisW, I probably worded it wrong. An easier way to explain it would be that once my car (an '87 Camaro) reached 99,999.9 miles, it flipped back to 00000.0

The photo of the gauge from the car above has an odometer that wouldn't go back to zero after hitting 100,000 miles; it would keep going. I was just surprised that they would make brother/sister cars with two different odometers.

Firebirds got a lot more of a dash update in 1985 then the Camaros did. The Firebird went to a electronic speedo in 85 where the Camaro didn't go until 1990. So there is a much bigger different between the Camaro and Firebird then how many digits the odometer displayed.
