F/S - 1991 Trans Am GTA ( Hardtop )

Due to some most recent financial issues, I am going to have to sell my 1991 Trans Am GTA, Hardtop, 350 T.P.I. Bright red, approx 80,000 miles. The car runs & drives great and is a blast to drive. The car has typical early 90's paint where the top surfaces are turning white & chalky and some minor body damage that is typical for a 15 year old car, but nothing major and the A/C does not work. This is a real Y84 car, and not a trans am with GTA emblems. I will get better pics as soon as I can.... I am asking $4000.00 OBO, NADA Guides are showing low retail of $4375.00 to average retail of $5450.00. This car is located in Amarillo, Texas.

A couple of questions -

Do you know what is wrong with the AC?

Is the dash pad in good shape?

Thanks!

probably needs to be recharged, and if i'm right it takes R12 so you'd have to convert it over to R134A. Either that or the compressor is shot. Really nice car and you can't go wrong with a Texas car. Good luck with the sale

I am not sure what is wrong with the A/C. It has never been a priority to me so Ive never looked into it. The dash pad is cracked but intact. I believe its also missing the little defroster vent grille on the right side.

Just a thought. Maybe lower the price a little? You've had this on here for five months, and only one or two people have posted on here that they're interested. I'm going to be in the market for another T/A within a month or so, but yours is just out of the range that I'm looking for. Not telling you what to do, just a suggestion. Also, why does Texas have to be so big? I'm in Shreveport, LA, and it would still take me five and a half hours to drive there if I were to look at it. It's a nice looking car, and good luck with the sale man!

Other than the paint, it looks like a nice clean car and $4K sounds like a pretty good price to me. 5.5 hours isn't that far of a drive, I flew to California to pick up my 92 GTA and it took me 28 hours to drive home.

I didn't mean that the price was too high. I was just saying that since he's had it for sale for over five months, maybe he needs something to reinvigorate the sale. And I know, five and a half hours isn't that long to get what you want, but for me who would like to take a look at it, and then decide, that's about two and a half tanks of gas in my T/A

As far as the price... everything is negotiable with cash in hand and I have had many replies from many who wanted the car, but no one has yet to come up with the most important ingredient to aquire it. If you look at my list of current cars this obviously is not my 1st F-Body. I personally have owned many cars and i do mind selling them occasionally to acquire something new, but at the same time I am not going to give them away either...... If the car sells, then thats great. If it doesnt sell then I will eventually refinish the car and add it to my stable of keeper cars.

My last car I traded for I trailered 1 car 10 hours 1 way with the possibility that if I didnt like the one I was dealing on then I would be hauling the same car home. Its just part of the gamble when you buying used cars. You can only tell so much in a picture...... and you never know if you really like something till you have the chance to see it in person.

Tell you what. I'm filing my taxes on Monday. Depending on how much I get back, I may entertain you with an offer. So, next week, you might hear something from me. If I'm not getting all that much back, I'll just have to save for a couple months before I throw out some offers on cars. Either way, good luck with it

My sentiments exactly.

Very nice car, I might consider it if the cause of the A/C problem could be pinpointed.

I have gotten several Private Messages lately and I am no longer in my financial crunch, but the car can still be bought with cash in hand.

Re: F/S - 1991 Trans Am GTA ( Hardtop )

I can't believe this car didn't sell way earlier for that price. At one point $3500 was thrown out there and accepted! These cars run for around $2K in the southern states in junk hacked condition. I hope you get it sold for what you want but I'd suggest listing it locally as you'll probably be able to move it for your asking price much faster. Looks like a very nice clean car. Good luck.

I dont doubt at all the car would make it to Ohio.... but I am going to have to pass on the Camaro. I have decided to try to re-group on some of the cars that are in my stable. I am going to try to aquire cars that would be limited in production or different in some ways like the anniversary trans ams.

Re: F/S - 1991 Trans Am GTA ( Hardtop )

is the car still for sale? i've been looking for third gen in 200 mile radius from dallas for a while. I checked google and it shows that you are 340 miles away which is a little out of the range i was looking for but i might still consider it if car is runing good and you will take 3500. I am checking few cars that are closer so i am not yet positive on how serious i am to drive 340 miles to get it.
