More with acronyms (transmission)
4L60-E
4 = number of gears (2, 3, or 4)
L = Longitudal (RWD) T=Transverse (FWD)
60 = Relative torque capacity (40, 60, 80)
E = Electronicly controlled.
Common transmissions:
4L60 (700R-4)
4L60-E (electronicly controlled 700R-4)
3L80 (TH400-notice this is an 80 series, stronger than the 4L60)
4L80-E
4T60-E
4T65-E
3T40 (125c)
A 4L60 is a 700R-4. If you have a 700, you HAVE a 4L60 and vice versa, it is only a name change.
