What's that "thunk" sound when I take off from a standstill?

Broken tranny mount. Easy fix, have done it myself. I'd need to consult my trusty shop manual for the exact procedure, torque values, etc...(don't want to give the wrong info at this point). Let me know if you would like me to write a tech article or something.

do it but make sure you emphasize that you DO NOT have to take the crossmember off. that leads to broken bolts and headaches.
