Will V6 T-5 work with V8? Or vice versa?
This one's popped up on the techboard. Heard the Q many times before. They're hashing it out over there, maybe the "final answer" (dorky Millionaire saying) should be posted in FAQ.

Okay, here's the story.
In order to make a V6 T5 work with a SBC, you need the following:
V8 T5 bellhousing (the V6 bellhousing bolts are different)
V6 Clutch disc (the spline count and shaft diameter are different)
V8 flywheel
V8 pressure plate
I don't know which throwout bearing or pilot bearing you need to use at this point.
Also note that I have NOT tried this, because I think it's a huge waste of time and money and that you are better off getting a V8 tranny in the first place. Even the non-WC V8 T5's are probably stronger than the V6 ones.

What he said. But the v6 clutch disk is also smaller than the v8 version I think. What one guy did was have the center section cut out of his new v8 disk, and the one cut out of his old v6 disk. Then he had the v6 center welded into the new v8.
v6 T5's do have the advantage of amazing gearing, but I don't think they are as strong.
