Can I use a 400 crank from a BBC in my SBC?

A: If your SBC was made in 1986 or older you can use a 400 crank from a BBC, but you need to have the 400 crank reground...

I think I just screwed that up, so someone correct me because it's a question that should be included in the FAQ.

big block chevy? or 400 small block chevy. The BBC has a larger bore spacing than an SBC, did you know that? I think you ment a 400 SBC with a two-piece rear main seal into a 4.00" bore block SBC with a two-piece rear main seal, right? You can retro fit a two-piece onto a one-piece block, GM sells the adapter.
