Just wondering, searched around for custom notches, didnt really find one.

I live in summerville SC and have a notch that no one has seen before . look for the post (honest oppinion on this hatch) I've considered selling it but not really sure . I'll bump the thread to the todays posts ads let me know what you think.

I am ...I seen that home made one and have the pics saved on my phone. ..I have a notch back and I was going to make a plug out of it...and make a mold...but after seeing that home made one ...it made me rethink my plan....

as soon as I can I will post a build thread about my car...but the guy helping me do the body work is on his Man-a-pause. ...plus dose anyone have a galaxy s3 ?? After this last update I can no longer post pics to 3rd gen....My pc is down, when I get it back I'll start a build thread...

My car has a fiberglass hood ( 4in cowl ) fiberglass notch back ( junk ) and the fiberglass insert to hold corvette tail lights ...My dad had a friend who has a brother, who is good with fiberglass ..but..after dealing with this guy...I found out yes he is good but not dependable. .2 years working on my car and its just shaved ..no fiberglass work has been done...The deal was ...I would pay for the material to make a mold of my hood, hatch, and tail lights...and material to make a new hatch...to him he was getting $800 ( paid ) plus the 3 molds..he was also to shave (done ) door handles, locks, mirrors, antenna,and front fender blinkers....and now in the last week or so I found out he, has used all my material at a body shop he was working at to prove how good he was to the owner...the shop he says was supposed to replace the material...but the shop was closed and he was fired...and now I have no material. .

Wow...That def sucks and not fair on your side...honestly, he is responsible for the work regardless what he does wit the money and materials.

I hope this works out for you though.

I have been thinking about it and i think I am gonna give it a shot but itll have to wait untill i do my roof....

what were you going to do?

cause that would be my biggest challenge, kinda been looking at it and unless its narrowed or notched with venting...kinda not much to be done, could be with in reason.

As for what I'm doing??? Lol ...I'm going to get my parts and what ever is left over in material. .Then dot his eye...I'll never see a penny from this guy...

I'll look for a new glass or a notch back...Therr was someone selling a notch back near you ...no back window...I asked the guy if he would meet me halfway. ..never heard from him..but after talking with my brother he said he was up for a road trip..I tried to talk to the guy again and heard nothing...thought it would be cool to drive down south and stop in on lizard lick towing....lol...

Yeah I saw pics of it, he is tag at top of thread, I think the whole car is on craiglist columbia now. But he'll probly sit sell. Ill see if I can find cl listing again for ya.

Narrowing / meaning taking sails n pulling inward n put narrower glass in the hatch. Even if just an inch or two, would create a exotic look verse being so straight back.

Same thing as a notch.

Venting would be along the notch like you saw, were the sails of the notch are modified. I personally think an inner vent style would look cool and have it open over the trunk...pointless in function but cool either way. Im only doslike with n outward vent is its too mustang ish....imo

My roof is ok (onlu part on car thatvis ), but I want to do a targa top...so once im done the wide body (in progredd now) thatll be my next aspect.

I have the same problem with my factory notch not sealing and suspect thats why the previous owner sold it and bought a different one. It appears as if it warped from being leaned against something while not on a car. I have the luck of being married to a former body repair person and am planning to have her/us repair it to fit as soon as i can free up some garage space from my chevelle project. I drove to MI from TX to pick this one up and figured it would be cheaper to repair it right than replace it with another one that might not fit either

Did you use balsa wood on yours?Looks warped in some of those pics.

No ..its ( louon bord ) spelling is wrong...its what you put down befor you tile....it s a thin peace of wood, kinda like paneling. ...not my idea. ..but the plan was to shape my hatch with wood and thick bondo...then make a mold from it ...then put my hatch in the garbage. ...then use the mold to make a new hatch. ...in some pics you can see how wavy the flat part is...and the wood was to make it flat ...again not my idea but the guy the guy who WAS working on my car....

Nothing wrong with the idea, expecially if it was to be a plug for mold, you just need the plug to take the process, in this case. Id woulda only had add couple cross suports to help it keep shape, but I think its pretty bad *** lookin (expecial DIY).

To help confuse everything ...my first name is Ron and so is the guy working on my car...

Ron is capable of doing the work...but he started on the car at the beginning of summer (2011) at his house. .His brother and my dad are friends...that's how I met the guy..he was losing his house. .so I paid him up front to save his house... ( he spent the money on other stuff ) there was a kia at his place ...I told him I didn't want my material to end up on another car... ( it did ) ...so he lost his house and and while he was moving he broke his leg...nothing was done to my car untill he started at a body shop on Saint Patrick's Day (2012) ..I paid the shop $400 to let my iroc sit in his shop while Ron worked on it after hours. ..while there to prove how good he was with fiberglass ...he used mine...I didn't know that and after he shaved the car...I paid the body shop $1100 to sand the paint off then prime it and weld in S.F.C...now the shop is closed ...Ron said the owner was supposed to reimbursed him the material. ..but he's not...and Ron with no job now cant buy me material. .....
