Wanting to fab a 2002 ss spoiler, need help!!
I'm looking to fab a 98-2002 Camaro ss spoiler onto my 91 Camaro, I love the ss spoilers look. Does anyone know what the width is on that spoiler? I know I'm going to have to custom build some side pieces the run it into the body and look like it was made to go on, but I need to know how much. I'll know after getting the ss spoiler measurements, any help would be awesome, thanks

you may be able to do what others did using the 2nd gen ones and mold thewhole wing and sides together mold it to the base of the thirdgens so it sits flat and cut the spots that allow the hatch to open. i do believe the 4th gens are thicker than a thirds though so that may oppose isues. no one on heres done anything like this so itll be trial and error

This pic looks pretty good, i wonder how that would look on my vert. it seems like i would need a round bumper, but than it would probably look ugly.

Just one prob. That's an ss mock up on photoshop, proportional to the body. The spoiler wouldn't actually be that big on a third gen. That's why I was looking for the length (side to side) bc I think it would set inside the hatch perameters. Meaning, by the time it got to the rear quarters it would only be as high as ours are stock. The spoilers aren't the same length I'm sure.

Yes it does, but as stated before, don't look at the photoshop pic, it's not even close to what it should look like. I'd also have to fix the part where it meets the back windshield bc the back glass on the fourth gen is more narrow and round, so the spoiler is more rounded, ours is square. Probably wouldn't work at all, but not looking to spend 150-400$ on a spoiler, bc it's hard to find one in a jy here

it's funny seeing the photoshopped images, because, the first thing i was going to say was "it won't look right because the 3rd gens are boxy and square, and the 4th gens are swoopy and rounded, and so are the spoilers...
but don't take that as me downing the idea..... rr... well... ok i'm downing the idea of an ACTUAL 98-02 spoiler, but, im sure that someone makes a similar one that wouldn't look so doofy, that maybe follows the body lines of the car a little better..
or, make your own.... time consuming, but not hard.... - though in the end you'll end up spending the same amount as buying one.
but all of that aside, it really does bug me seeing things that obviously don't match the natural lines and curves of a car..... like... the double nostril hoods that look like their from a 98-02 WS6..... their awesome on the WS6, but they don't fit the body of a 3rd gen.....
and most people just slap them on and don't even make them functional.. i think i'd make an exception and say they were cool, if they were functional... because it's hard to find a decent looking ram air hood for these cars. people over think it or UNDER-think it..
Bottom line - the designers at GM did a REALLY good job of designing these cars.
it is DIFFICULT to ADD things to them that legitimately look cool (or TASTEFUL) or like they belong there without screwing it up...
especially considering that the people who are designing parts for them were either not born yet when these cars were new, or grew up thinking that a mitsubishi eclipse was a cool car.. they are used to bubble looking cars, and will design things for these boxy looking cars the same as what their used to seeing (and they -suck-)
... ok.. back to the garage!
