4th gen center console

Looking if anyone would post their camaros with 4th gen center console, i want to see how it fits against the bezel of heater and radio.

Also how hard is it to fit the ebrake and align it?
Also since my car is auto would the auto center console fit perfectly?

did everything with a dremel...not too bad of a swap, e-brake will slide right in the slot

what did you dremel precisely? that's good to know!
What years did they make black center consoles?

Thank you very much!
question though; will my auto shifter (stock) fit perfectly with the auto shifter plate on the 93-97-02 console?

Also what the the different styles of center consoles from 93-02 camaro/firebird? Looking for black too; want to know what years those came in.

Also is there a extra 12volt source i can tap to hook up the aux power outlet too?

How exactly did you get it to fit? did it fit perfectly and bolt right in? or did you have to modify it?

Re: 4th gen center console

stock shifter will not work in an auto console. most get a t56 console and put the stock shifter through the boot to cover it up. this was a while ago and i can't really remember what all i did to make it fit. everything on my car has been modded, so i pretty much expect anything that goes in the car to have to be modded in some way.

as far as aux power, you can pull from the cig lighter, or go from the aux power slot in the fuse box.

Re: 4th gen center console

do i have to modify the console shifter plate to get it to work with the shifter?

Did research, so from what I understand. to get a 97+ camaro or firebird center console thats auto to fit my 89 camaro thats auto i'd have to trim the front of the console to get the shifter to be aligned? thats all?

EDIT:
I found this: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/314802...-camaro/page-2

So basically all it works on my camaro just what about the auto shifter plate?...

Re: 4th gen center console

IIRC, the shifter sits too high, so you either have to trim the shifter, pound the shifter mount pad down some, or trim the hell out of the console+shimms

t56 console looks better

wishing my car was standard but i have 2 issues.
1. i haven't droven a standard car enough
2. dont have money to do the swap

so basically just trim the **** and remold the shifter then, shouldnt be to hard. curious though, can you just swap the shifter itself from the 4th gen to the 3rd gen? direct bolt or complete different setup?

Re: 4th gen center console

what part of "use a t56 console" says to use a t56? put a t56 console on there with the stock auto shifter, use a boot up to the shifter **** and it gives the appearance that you have a standard shift car, without fitment issues that an auto console will give.

they're completely different shifters, won't be a direct bolt in. would require new bracket.

Re: 4th gen center console

sorry misread and thought you said for me to get a t56 not a t56 console. It looks good, i was hoping to still have the indicator but that's fine

Whats the difference from a 97+ camaro vs firebird center console or do they look the same?

Re: 4th gen center console

the consoles are the same on a 98-02 firebird or camaro IIRC. not totally sure though. i know that there was a medium dark grey in the earlier 93-97 firebird consoles, and the 98 and newer got the black/ebony. the camaro console 93-97 was a different animal all together, and most people just use the 98-02 style. here's my car now:

still a work in progress

Re: 4th gen center console

I'm waiting for tomorrow or monday for the local junkyard to get in their new 70 cars in, hoping for 97+ camaro/firebird so i can grab a console! they said $20 if i self pick it rather than pay $100+ online from a member.. just to much
