Holy SH*%! What a car! I don't even care there's a ford powerplant in it. It's just so amazing! Good job with the car! You have mad skills! If you ever bring it to Houston, I would love to see it!

Installed a vibrant vanjen clamp. will hold 100 psi, and allows up to 12 degrees of movement.

Funny you ask... tried to dyno monday night. As soon as the turbos spooled it would drop holes and spit and sputter... 640 rwhp on 8 psi.

It pulled 9% fuel out and was still around 8% rich. Made a couple more pulls messing with timing and fuel and it did the same thing.

I thought it was weird, because it never misfires on the street, so unloaded it off the dyno and made a couple highway blasts... ran a 5.36 second 60-130 going uphill, dunno the slope of the road.

I think it's obviously making a lot more than 640 rwhp.

Re: 2k hp capable street car build

Dynos dont load the motor like street unless its one of the best load bearing mustang types but even still its not same. Makes sense why it dyno rich. Need to try lean dyno tune and then put your street tune back on once its off the dyno or else risk goin to lean and burning pistons

Re: 2k hp capable street car build

The weekend went pretty well, I was very pleased.

Car went a peak mph of 167.66, having to pedal in first gear. I saw 16 psi on that run.

I made it to the third round of king of the streets, beat up on some expensive iron.

Check out http://www.texasspeedsyndicate.com for more info. 1320 video was there and I'm sure will have VERY nice media.

Re: 2k hp capable street car build

The white GTR in the second pic was a Boost Logic 1300 package car. I heard he was more than a little upset when he got beat by a third gen firebird.

I also beat a gen 4 viper with a novi 200 and bottle, a C5 with a YSi, stroker, and bottle, and a suppsed 1500 whp 911 porsche, but I think he was having problems.

Yes, I drove it to and from the airfield both saturday and sunday, 30 miles each way. Saturday I drove home in the rain with the AC blowing cold!

Great run!! If I was the owner of the gtr I would not be a happy camper.
What were the rules to run the event??

Re: 2k hp capable street car build

I'm not sure there are so many rules per se, it's an invitation based event, though you can apply to participate. There is one day of grudge matches that the participants set up themselves, and this fall there were 3 events on sunday. A corvette shootout, a king of the street shootout (anything goes more or less) and a 6 speed shootout. I believe (but can't speak for them) that the persons making the decisions on who attends try to pick high horsepower modified cars that fit the spirit of a street car.

AND, if you had any doubts, I'd say that a car that can drive 30 miles in the rain, on unpaved roads, with the AC and stereo on, running on pump fuel is a street car.

Very impressive build and results. This was basically the first actual event on this build, correct?

Thanks!

You are correct. The car has seen one aborted dyno session which was pretty useless, quite a few street miles, some street tuning and a handful of fairly short highway pulls before this event.

I was starting with a baby tuneup that hooked on the street, and making incremental changes to sneak up on the tuneup and get some seat time... I DID drive an outlaw 10.5 car, but the last pass I made in it was almost 4 years ago now. Thankfully the car seems pretty solid and the driving is coming back fast.

Wow a 1300 package gtr is no slouch. Your setup is working well. Eager for some track times. I need to get mine up and running in prime shape asap. Your results inspire me to see what i can do with this setup.

Re: 2k hp capable street car build

Maybe you could go with the hood pin locks instead.

Something like this: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MRG-1472/

Color match them to the paint and they would blend in.

look into c3/c4 corvette hood latch mechanisms. I am considering them for my car - they are reverse hood pins essentially

Pic showing the clearance between the control arm and tire. You can see the relocated control arm position between the framerail and torque box. Yes, these tires really are that big!

Re: 2k hp capable street car build

did you use the eastwood fender roller, to do the rear?
doing mine to get a bit more room, got to love the look of that size of tire.
i could only go with 29.5 Tall(ground FX). but did get the same width.
buying to tool outright,$260.
only to use it one time..lol (who knows)

I ran .028" at 16 psi with no noticeable spark blow out. In the outlaw car at 30+ psi I put ngk -10's in without regapping. Out of the package those were sub .020".

Re: 2k hp capable street car build

I seem to be having an issue that maybe blowout at 15 psi but i am gapped at .026-.028 i believe. Used to run .030 in old setup to 18 psi no issue under 6000 but never went above that. Now at 6-6.2k i have a limiter action goin on that may be spark blowout. Only does it on higher boost levels not on base boost of 6 psi
