Re: Firebird to Camaro
you would need to purchase almost the complete front clip from the Camaro
you would have to cut the rear 1/4 to install the camaro tail lights
just sell the Bird and get a camaro

Re: Firebird to Camaro
Look up 'Firemaro'. Firebird nose on a Camaro body, or vice versa. Since the rear quarter panels are different, that would be a big undertaking to change that part out.
Its been done, but only in times of NEED, like to temporarily replace a crashed front end.
Nobody does it out of desire to create something new.

Re: Firebird to Camaro
Hood and nose are different. Rear bumper cover and taillights are different. Camaros have the license plate between the taillights. Firebirds have the license plate in the bumper.
Then all the interior styling is different.
Basically the cars are identical in structure. It's all cosmetics and styling in how they look. You could make one into the other if you try hard enough but is it really worth it? Probably easier to just buy a Firebird.

Well shucks. I want that Camaro IROC Turbo hood on my FB, or that "cheezy 80s daytona" hood. And a notchback. And the Camaro wide body kit. And the corvette tail lights. And a small, very small, double decker spoiler. Looks like I've got a lot of work cut out for me -.- And I'm probably gonna make the hard top into t tops. Either that, or gullwing doors.

As for a camaro design hood. It could be done, it wouldn't be easy though. VFN might be able to make you a custom one, but more than likely you'd have to get a fiberglass firebird hood as a base and get a camaro fiberglass hood. Cut the design pieces off the camaro hood you want and attach them on the firebird hood.
Overall you'd be far better off getting a camaro as a starting base if you want all the camaro parts.

I'm going to do everything one at a time, yes. This FB isn't my daily driver, so I don't have to worry about it much. I'm not a god at fabrication, but I know some.
And let me also make clear, I'm not too much a fan of clear clean cut cars. I'm a post-apocalyptic car fan. You should see my daily driver

Re: Firebird to Camaro
The body of my race car is in better condition than my daily driver and the race car is cut and chopped up. Pretty doesn't make it fast. The car looks good in pictures and going down the track. It's not going to win any car shows, best engineering awards etc but I didn't plan on building a show car.
You build what you like however on TGO you will get a lot of criticism for doing dumb or outrageous things. You might have an idea on wanting to do something like putting a Camaro hood on a Firebird but if you're told it's not feasible to do then you're on your own to fabricate and convert incompatible parts. Wanting to make your third gen look like an import will not get you a lot of advice.

I drive a whacked out (physically) Crown Victoria, and let me tell you, the guys at Crownvic.net DO NOT like my car and ARE NOT helpful. They were a very crappy message board. If they didn't like what I was planning on my car, they would just as soon watch me mess up instead of tell me how to do it right. I'll post my CrownVic as a signature later sometime.

Re: Firebird to Camaro
The upper frame rails (where the top of the fenders mount) are different between the two and would have to be changed. WAY more work than its worth IMO.
