Forming coolant hoses

I am replacing the heater hoses that run from the TPI throttle body to the fire wall. Is there a way to form the bends in the hoses to have a clean look??

Thanks

Re: Forming coolant hoses

I didnt know classic industries sold pre molded hoses, very cool. However I had an idea to mold it straight to the manifold and bypass the throttle body entirely. is there any way to do some homemade molded?

I wonder if the hose could be heated and formed. Then maybe immediately cool with water. It might keep its shape.

Re: Forming coolant hoses

The kit from Goodyear comes with two of those molded s-shaped hoses, along with everything you'd need to completely redo all of your radiator/coolant/heater hoses. Those hoses are very high quality as well. The kit includes an upper radiator hose for each application (TPI & TBI), so like I said it has everything.

Re: Forming coolant hoses

i think what zachnoel wanted to know ( as would i ) . if it is possible to buy bulk ( straight heater hose ) and re-form/bend into smooth angle turns . would be helpful for mods. such as re-locating heater diverter valve etc. . i think i may buy some heater hose & experiment with a jig and heat gun . anyone else have thoughts on this ???

Re: Forming coolant hoses

I usually ask the guy at the parts counter if I can go dig through their pile to try to find something that will work, and usually end up with one of 2 or 3 long pieces that has 1 or 2 hard bends at the end and then just cut the piece that I need out of that.

I've also seen form-able coils as well as heater hoses with them already on them that you can basically bend to any shape that you need and the coil/spring holds the shape.

As far as forming your own, I don't know of a way, but I"m sure that you'd have to get it much hotter than you'd want to handle, it would have to be more than the hottest the coolant ever gets (mid 2xx*), because they don't reshape after being under the hood for a while.
