Re: 700r4->th350 swap
hi there, well you dont need a different driveshaft if you get the 9" th350 from a '73-85 truck
its real simple and easy
no one seems to understand the concept that cars got 6" tail TH350, and trucks too from '69-72
*2 wheel drive only*
4x4 trucks are not a donor truck for any cars
the trannies in 4x4 trucks did not use tailshaft housing and instead used a really short stubby output shaft
good luck

Re: 700r4->th350 swap
A long tail shaft TH350 can use the same driveshaft as a 700R4
A short tail shaft TH350 can use the longer driveshaft found in 82-83 third gens that came with the TH200c 3 speed tranny.

Re: 700r4->th350 swap
uhmmm
im sorry L0tuS but uhmmm TH250 did not exist in these cars
obviously you dont even know what a TH250 is
a TH25O was a light th350 with adjustable band on the side of the pan,
second gen shafts are not the right length for third gen cars
im not trying to be rude or anything but...
please get accurate info before posting and further confusing ppl, in wihch i hate seeing happen, and it happens way too much
yes 9" tail th350= 700r4 except corvette 700r4 and some later caprices, in which were a little over an inch shorter than all over 700r4
but you have neither one so it doesnt matter anyways
the Th350 you need is under 2 wheel drive trucks from '73-86
pickups,
burbs,
blazers,
vans,
most chevy station wagons
a few station wagons other divisions of GM, although not as common
uf you run across a TH350C in which were used from 81-86 then its ok you dont have to connect the lockup plug(same electric plug as the 700r4, i have a th350c in the basement right now from an 81 c-10 pickup)if you need pics of what im talking about then i could take them)
longtail th350 is a very general and loose term
there were three lengths of the th350 in 2 wheel drive form
6" in cars all years, and 69-72 2wd trucks
9" tail in trucks 2wd and some wagons
12" tail in some late 70s wagons
now, granted i have only ever seen one 12" tail th350 in person specifically from under a '77 caprice wagon, but they do exist and are out there, avoid it though you cant use it, they are really crazy looking with such a long tailshaft
look at these google results
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=12%22+tail+th350
and L0tuS look at these results and learn some info
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=th250C
read this too it is 9" tail th350 to 700r4
http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/th35...wap-46200.html
and heres a thread on a truck forum i used ot be part of that depicts an example of what happens when ppl who dont know what they are talking about interject themselves with info they think is true but is actually waaaaay wrong
