Axle/Gears: monsterous 2.73s in both
CON: I do not know anything about cutting them, my car came with them. BUT, they are noisy when they are on. I've eliminated every noise in my car except for the ttop squeaks and creaks. And I KNOW it is the ttops, cus when they are off, there is no noise at all.
PRO: They are cool when they are off.

First, if your gonna get t-tops done in a second gen have a shop do it that has a good reputation. I'd hate to see a torn up TA

Second this is a 3rd gen tech site only 82-92. Anything other than that and it usually gets locked.

I suspect it would be a similar job as a ThirdGen, but am not sure. They require additional bracing and support so the body doesn't fold up, and are still a little weaker. Like 87 suggested, check with either a shop or web forum specializing in '70-'81 F-Cars and try to find what's involved. It's probably been done. I'd guess that top inserts are becoming hard to find, though.

I'm still skeptical about sfc's for eliminating t top noise. Some people say it was a miracle cure, and others say the noise stayed even after installing the sfc. I will get them eventually, but not just to fix the ttop noise, because I am not sure if they will.

Perhaps if you could find a donor car and cut the roof off, it would be a better idea.
