....you could get some mini-panties for shows like this guy's blown LS1 at G9 last year!
thats elmer's car, hehe. did you see his brake's? that car can stop on a dime like you couldn't imagine.

Huh… there’s room for 8” under the tray? Didn’t expect that. Sounds like if I cut out the tray and make a proper box I might even manage to slip one of those monster 18” K&N’s in there…

Thanks.

No, look at the later post I made, after I actually measured it. Its 4 inches, 2 on top, where the ducting goes, and 2 on the bottom, where the filter clamps on.

Sorry, 83, I made a mistake. I see you were asking about the air cleaner, and I thought it was the tube...Sorry. Yes, if you go any larger than 8 inches long, the filter will hang below the fender. The air filter itself is actually 7 inches, but when you measure the flange, where the clamp goes, its a full 8 inches. I do not have the corner of the factory spoiler installed. It will fit, but I want an undisrupted flow of air to the filter. I dont have a tray, as I dont drive in the rain. It looks like it does on the bottom, with the filter off, just like it does in the top view pic. With my 436, it is pretty noisy, sucking the air in, but I dont mind.

I guess you can powder coat it any color you like. The elbow on the T/B is metal, while the straight tube is aluminum, so I had them both powdercoated silver, so they would look better. I had orange silicine hose, and regular hose clamps on it at first, and it looked horrible.

check these out, i bought a set, spray painted them black, and removed the fog lamps. The upper intake stayed the same. (black plastic factory Y) along with twin square K&N's and i removed all other air restrictions. Instant ram air/cai and no one will ever know the difference...

imho made a huge difference and looked factory.

Essentially the dryer hose deal is the exact same as what i did and much cheaper. I say go for it. Well worth the time and $

I think that it look's good shine the sh** out of it and it has given me something to go by for my setup which will be for a carb. I want have one big pipe or hose going to a filter assembly or maybe set it up like a blow through type and put the filter on the end like brutal I don't know what that would do for mixing the fuel? Guess I'll do some research on that.

Does anyone have a pic of what the bottom of their Y-air box looks like after they cut off a chunk? I'm not sure exactly where I should start or how much I should cut off. Thanks in advance.

I really do not understand what you mean? Could you please explain it a bit better, and maybe I can help.

You should go with 4x1 or 3x1 oval pipes over the rediator and see if it clears better that way. Then you won't lose any strength in the hood.

It looks as if the entire piece was pulled and left an open area behind the nose cone.

I have something like a blow-through on my current car. It failed emissions now because it runs way to rich. It would work fine with adequate airflow, though, I think mine is just in a bad spot.

That actually looks like itd get some pretty good flow in it, because its not a bunch of heavy corners. Can you post a picture of how your hood was cut, and any idea if you could setup something like that on an 89 GTA?
