Sorry. I didn't get that part earlier. Given that the hoses can impart some real stress on the unit, I'd think you'd want a fairly rigid mounting. A little weldment would be cool. There should be enough material in a couple places where you could drill/tap 8-32 or 10-32 mounting holes. Even if you break through the aluminum with the drill, you can seal up the screws/studs with LocTite PST.
If you have a TIG, you can weld right to the casting.

OK, this might be a little wacky, but.....make yourself up a bracket from say .093" aluminum sheet, and here is the wacky part: make it sandwich in between the housing and the water neck.
so the stack up would be:
water neck
gasket
bracket
gasket
thermostat
housing
then you just need some slightly longer bolts to put it all together. off that bracket, just make a 90* bend, or whatever it takes to mount it to what you want. Obviously, the bracket needs a hole for the thermostat, and the two holes for the screws.

with the thermostat i now own it has bolt holes on the bottom of he housing to bolt onto whatever it is i decide to build for it. I have some ideas about a 90* bent lip that is about 2" wide and say 10 inches across with the upper piece being flat and big enough to have the houseing bolt to it. Im just wondering if i might need to make supports for the under side of it if i mount it to the fender well above my gear box.
