heres a little tip. and empty bullet casing from say a 9mm is a perfect punch for punching out bolt holes in gasket paper.

Are you saying you don't know how to cut the gasket paper well, or that you don't know where to get gasket paper??? I'm confused... for the most part, you can use scissors...

The 9mm case may be perfect, but for those of us that are not a member of a millitant group, a 9mm casing might be a bit hard to come by. I just trace out the bolt hole with a fatty Sharpie marker and use a paper punch several times until the hole is the right size.

not at all. you can get empty shells at places like gander mountain, and i even think bass pro sells them. you don't have to have a FOID card to buy them because they aren't loaded and even if they were all you would have to be is older than 18. they do really make great gasket hole punchers!

they make hollow gasket punches, i got mine from snap on. you can trace them out with a marker and cut them out or you can tap around the edges of the gasket material and holes with a small, 6-8 ounce, ball pein hammer to cut the gasket and make the holes.

I forgot another tip for working the sometimes small detailed areas of gasket can be easily cut with beauty scissors (curved tipped scissors for toes/fingernail detail work) or Telco snips (look like small child scissors, but are some of the sharpest/longest lasting scissors in the world). I've made snowmobile gaskets like this back when I was a kid racing a John Deere 295cc sled!!!

I use a punch for the holes, but to cut the gasket itself, I use an X-acto knife after I trace the gasket.

I got tired of replacing TPI gaskets and found that I could get away with any non hardening gasket surface sealant

WRT to cutting them out, you can get sheets of the stuff at most car parts places, you can usually get different thicknesses, stiffnesses and compositions from decent speed shop (we usually go after Mr Gasket’s stuff, easiest and cheapest to get), and they are really pretty simple to cut out. In a pinch I’ve done TBI and carb gaskets with an exacto knife (tape it to a board, use the old gaket as a pattern, lay it over it and spray bomb it to outline it perfectly, as an alternative, take some masking tape, stick it over the opening and trace it with the exacto, peal it off and stick it to your gasket stuff and trace it).

Get your gasket material, get a good cad model of the shape and bring the material and *.dwg file to a local waterjet shop. Come back the next day and you'll have as many gaskets (perfect) as you need for a very resonable cost. That's if you need multiple gaskets, for single one time only deals I just use my pocket knife.
