I was wondering how hard it would be to make a fibergless rear hatch that replaces the rear window and would it be any lighter than the rear window is now??? I was thinking I could use the trim for a template to build the fiberglass around so I would have the seal already for me....anybody have any ideas as in what I should do for it or on how to buld it?? Thanks

Anyways, you could probably make a 1 piece fiberglass casting of the glass, but a lot of that weight is what helps us get traction on the street. Jegs also supposely makes a lexan type swap in piece. Basically if you want to do a fiberglass casting regular mat isn't going to cut it since the area is very wide. Even though it has curves it's only supported around the edges. If you wanted to do it out of fiberglass you would have to look into a speciality fiber like biaxial, which has one side woven and the other side mat. It's the same type they make boat hulls from.

I wish I had the pics of my fiberglass hatch. mine is either a Motion performance, or a harwood. once I get it installed, I'll post some pics.

Pretty Close. I can't see if it has the cosmetic "vents" in the sail panel, mine doesn't. How do you like the widebody? I'm thinking of using one, or building my own. How much "custom" work did you have to do to get it on?

It should have been done 3 months ago but been really busy with work plus had to total fab up new metal for the T-tops(rust)

The widebody is nice the rears just take alot of time blend in. Alot of adding fiberglass and sanding over and over. I may make a mold of them once I get the car done better then spending the $3000 I have in all my fiberglass pieces.

I still can't decide what I want to use for the rear wing. I will be using the car for road racing and need something functional and adjustable

That's what my spoiler is designed for. When you decide, let me know, and maybe I can make a custom peice for you. I'll brainstorm alittle on adjustability. BTW, the one in the pics is 3 1/2. I plan on making them up to 6".

NOt mine. but I am doing a percy speedglass front and rear setup.

A little diff twist to it though. Im using My convertable Deck lid since Im puting a fuel cell in the back.

Its also a T top car converted to a targa Top

Thanks for the replys.....now about the fiberglass what if I put medal bars across the hatch to make it stiffer and then fiberglassed over them. Also do I need to upgrade my rear suspensio? Right now I have rear air shocks and then its all stock but I am goin to put some rear springs from a 1981 oldsmobile delta 88 so I can lift the rear higher...by the way this car is goin to be a street legal drag car that will be used for a few "street races" and then will be parked since I will be driving my 87 Z28 most often and this will be my "sleeper"..
