Air Intake Dam

Recently, I havent been getting very good air flow to the intake, so i built a "funnel" type thing directing the air to the intake, it sits about 2.5in off the intake, but the air going through seems to still not be getting to it, i changed the filter, and made sure everything was in proportion, but it still didnt do it, any ideas as to building a sort of "dam" or "wall" to get any mis-directed air to sort of "bounce back" torwards the intake, ive seen it done, but dont have an idea how
