I am looking to buy one or two of Stephen's STS (sequential taillight signal) units. Please let me know if you have one for sale with the price including shipping to 76301.

Re: Stephen's STS units

I don't have any currently but I will be building more for the Texas statewide meet in Georgetown. If you come to the meet, you can pick one up in person (no shipping charge).

I should start building the next batch by the end of the month.

Re: Stephen's STS units

oh nvm..
Stephen is currently on a leave after the staff made a decision that was based on several past and current incidents involving Stephen and a wide-range of other members.

Stephen is one of the original 5 founders of ThirdGen.org, but sometime during ThirdGen.org's early days, Stephen and ThirdGen.org had a parting. Since then, for the past several years, Stephen has been a member of ThirdGen.org but does not have any further involvement with ThirdGen.org beyond that.

So the guy is a little outspoken, I had a little falling out with him in what I think was the thread that got him banned but come on now, is there no respect for such a senior member? He did help a lot of people here. Cut him some slack.

Price hasn't changed in years, still $56 for a unit shipped to your door. Only one unit needed for both tail lights.

And guys, please stop discussing management's ban decisions, they are very touchy about that nowadays. So shush, or else you might get this thread locked too.

THANK YOU, LOU!!!
I was afraid that this discussion might get started but we should all know that reasons why a person is banned is strictly private to management. I personally am not worried about it.
I have heard nothing but good about the sts units and am interested in getting some. I am very glad to hear that you are still making them. I remember that he had help.
I thought that I would have to find a member that did not want his/her unit. This is good news to us relatively new members as I am not sure I was a member the last time they were offered here.
Lou I am sending you a PM.

Probably a stupid question but would this function correctly on a Camaro? I have only seen them on a Bird.

Thanks

Re: Stephen's STS units

NOT a stupid question at all, glad you asked.

Yes, the unit can work on Camaro tail lights but you need to make some modifications to the lights. The whole point of the unit is to sequence multiple light bulbs in a turn signal so you would need to "somehow" modify your tail lights to be able to light up multiple bulbs on each side. The easiest and most common modification is to spray paint the amber section with Testor's Candy Apple Red translucent paint (usually available at Hobby Lobby, WalMart and other dpt stores). That will give you TWO bulbs per side to sequence. If you are crafty, you can add a third bigger bulb into the corner lens of the tail light to have THREE bulbs per side. That is the direction I am heading. I already have two red sections, just need to find the right bulb socket for the corner lenses (or do some body cutting and filling when I get to it). See picture below:

Then you'll need to make a very small wiring modification under the steering column (re-route ONE wire) and you can have sequential tail lights on a Camaro.

Let me know if you'd like one and I can put you on my list.

Re: Stephen's STS units

Just a quick note to let others know I will get mine from BigBadLou when they are available. It is nice to see that others are still interested in these units.
These units are truly unique in how they work so I want these and not any other electronic aftermarket unit.
Thanks again to Lou and if he is still involved with these Stephen.

Re: Stephen's STS units

Also, if anybody has any doubts about the longevity of these units, please feel free to ask around. There are a few hundred satisfied customers out there (actually, come to think of it, I have never had a dissatisfied customer).

And of course Stephen's white GTA has the ORIGINAL PROTOTYPE that I built for him in 2006 - so 5 years and ticking, without a glitch.
Videos here: Left turn signal with STS and Right turn signal with STS.

Cheers.

add me to the list; I’ll need at least two sets (one for my 92 T/A convertible and one for my 62 Impala convertible) for my cars that run and maybe more for my projects.

Re: Stephen's STS units

Alright, gentlemen, I wrote everybody's names down (and thanks for the PMs, too).

Killert, yes, the unit comes with wiring instructions for GTA, base Firebird and modifications for Camaros. There are also numerous threads here on TGO (mostly in the Electronics section) that discuss the minor or bigger modifications needed for each vehicle.

Kris, I see your timing predicament but don't worry, I won't leave you hanging. I want to see sequential tail lights on a Camaro, especially a gorgeous convertible.

You sell STS, have a convertible, but don't have one on your convertible Camaro?

Not yet, not yet.

Those, who know me, would say that I am very ... um ... particular.
So it's not easy for me to find the RIGHT bulb socket for the corner lens without the need of cutting into the body.
But once I do, believe me, there will be a Camaro convertible out there with STS tail lights!

I am very sorry to hear that. I didn't know we had a bad unit out there. If you would like to send it back for me to look at, feel free to PM me for my address.
I cannot imagine Stephen saying those words, that would be great to have on tape! He was in charge of all the PR because he has much more patience when it comes to dealing with people. Now that job's on my shoulders and I hope I can do it well too, so please bear with me, gentlemen.
But like I said, let me know if you still have the unit and would like me to take a look at it.

It is good to see that some poeple are willing to stand behind there products. I was not concerned because with electronics these days there can easily be a single marginally ok part the quits after a time. It is nice to see that Lou is wanting to try to do something to make it right.

I spoke to Intruder recently and we cleared things up. Unfortunatelly he doesn't have the old unit anymore but will be buying another one and will install it on his car again. I prefer a happy customer over a disgruntled customer!
I am actually looking forward to seeing one of my units on his nicely restored GTA.

Good news, I have a few units available and am in the process of making more (it's a slow process so I make only about a couple per day if I have time after work so please bear with me).

I am setting up a webpage with instructions, videos and payment options and it will be hopefully up within 24 hours.

STS units
If you think I am missing some information on the page, please let me know.
Also, if there is any wrong information up there, please let me know as well. Thank you.

I have a list of interested parties so if I don't hear from you within a week or so, expect a PM or email in which I will remind you that I am already building the units.

I hope you guys like 'em! I am excited, another batch coming out!

Re: Stephen's STS units

Just as an FYI, I still have plenty of units left. I have a list of about 40 members who wanted one badly and so far shipped about 20 units.
So if y'all still want some, I got plenty left over.
At this point, all reservations are off and these are available on a first-come first-serve basis.

Re: Stephen's STS units

Unit shipping will be on hold for a week from today (6/15-6/22) because I will be out of town.
However, if you'd like, you may still submit a payment (per instructions on my STS page) and I will ship your unit immediately upon my return.

Btw, I have only 9 units left, gentlemen.

Re: Stephen's STS units

Hello gentlemen,
I sent you both private messages.
I am sorry for the page not loading, not sure what the problem is, it is currently working fine on my computer. Are you accessing it from a phone? The only thing I might suspect would be the embedded YouTube videos of the sequential turn signals.

Regards
Lou

I sent it through your STS specific page. I used the Paypal option @ the top of the payment listings

Re: Stephen's STS units

Adrian, GayPal says I received your payment but it is acting completely gay and wouldn't let me access it. I need to figure out what is wrong. Though I am hoping to ship your unit today. Sorry for the trouble.

Well howdy all the way to Nova Scotia! You also got 105F there? I hope not.
Yes, I have a unit for you. If I receive your payment by 2pm, your unit can go out today and be on its way this weekend.

Lou
