82-84 SMC fiberglass z28 hood
have a SMC fiberglass hood for sale, had it in storage for years now. I'll never use it may as well sell it to someone who can use it. It was from a L69 or Lg4 car as it does not have the crossfire induction thing at the back, but rather has some bolt in block off plates. needs paint, has one crack on right rear.
have some pictures on the CL ad for it. can email bigger ones by request.
http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/pts/2962556366.html
can ship but don't know how to ship something this big, but am open to someone that does know how.
Located north of Pittsburgh, PA
asking $100 for thirdgenners. obo.

These hoods aren't worthless its just really hard to sell anything around here. I have had the same problem trying to sell my extra parts. It seems no one near us needs any. Free bump.

Its the economy man.
I am changing jobs again, too. The fun money is now used for more expensive groceries and gasoline.
I'd check out a swap meet if I were you. I get stuff from the one near my house sometimes.
I'd love to buy it but my IROC is on the back burner until who knows when now.

Yeah I guess so... I don't think I'm asking too much either. Seems pretty fair to me, and I'm willing to deal some.

Re: 82-84 SMC fiberglass z28 hood
No, you're not asking too much. It's a GREAT price.
I just bought a fiberglass hood from NW Indiana and with a discount it was still a killer on shipping. Shipping is tough for big stuff like that, but you can get it done. Look up a guy here named RCAR7395 and ask him how he shipped mine. He's a nice guy and I'm sure he'll let you know the details of how to get it done.
My hood is completely drowned in bubble wrap, I hope it survives the delivery truck!
Good luck, man!

Re: 82-84 SMC fiberglass z28 hood
Your price is a steal! Hey, don't feel bad. I've got an NOS hood insulator for that hood and no ones hot for it. I did have a guy in Canada that wanted it, but couldn't ship it to him economically. Oh well.....

Re: 82-84 SMC fiberglass z28 hood
You will pay less at a yard because they dont care what car its off of or if its rare. 100 dollars for a fiberglass camaro hood is a very fair deal. Ive seen them go for 150 when the economy wasnt in the crapper.

Re: 82-84 SMC fiberglass z28 hood
It is too bad you can't find anyone to take it for that. Back in 1992 when I was redoing my 82 Z-28 the stock SMC hood was being phased out of production and I remember seeing them in catalogs for 750.00!! I have my original one and it has been in my barn for the past nearly 20 years so I am now going to use it myself and put an L88 hood scoop from Summit racing on it this winter to change the look of the car and store my cowl hood for the time being. Good luck, free bump for you..

Re: 82-84 SMC fiberglass z28 hood
The quality of the hood was an issue when they were built, but your price is more than fair. You just have to find the right buyer. Most people who have Z28's or Irocs want to keep the original factor with their cars. I sold one 10 years ago for 150.00.

Re: 82-84 SMC fiberglass z28 hood
Hey, I'd love to see pictures of the hood you've got for sale...no splitting or delamination of the layers?
BTW, did you ever check with the guy KrisW bought his from regarding how he shipped that one? I'd be willing to work with you to get you a fair price in your pocket for it, so long as the shipping didn't kill me. Been looking for one locally for a couple of years now -even in Atlanta, but so far none have been worthy of the asking price, so I'm "fanning out", just to see what's out there.
Drop me a line at rcaswell@owwb.com (sadly, I just don't get on here too much lately) and let's see what you got and how much shipping would be to me (36801).
Thanks!
