Switched to an 80 Series Flowmaster

Well i brought the car out of hibernation today. I ditched the Dynomax Super Turbo and installed the 43083 80 Series muff. Just thought i'd give you guys my opinion of it. We had a good chuckle when we took the Dynomax off. No packing left at all. Guess 4 years takes its toll. Idle loudness is roughly the same but that is where the similairities end. Just tap the gas and it barks like a SOB. Part throttle is loud as hell even cruising is louder. The tone is that good old Flowmaster sound. Best part about these muffs is that the tone will never change as there is no packing to blow out. Keep in mind i have a 454, so i may be getting a little more rumble and volume compared to you guys with MILD sbc's. Regardless, I'm glad i switched. Nice to have a muff with volume AND a good tone.

Spring is here........bring on the imports

sorry to tell you but some flowmasters do change their sound when the inside gets coated with soot. My 80 took weeks to get louder but the 40 on my jeep never changed sound.

I'm glad you like your Flowmaster, the best IMO. Yes, it will get louder and better sounding after a while.

CrazyRob how could you bring the car out so early!! There is still salty water and slush all over the place. However you can tell people are starting to get into the spirit of things. Or atleast the rice rocket/rackets are. I'm not bringin my car out till May long for Gimli. Or maybe a week before that to get a set of headers and the exhuast done. Hey man you work at minute muffler/rivercity right......Can ya hook me up???

Glad to hear you liked your flows. I am looking for a good Flowmaster muffler to replace my catalytic converter, I just have a 305 with straight pipes and cat now and its just not right, damn mild L03 cam. I'm sure that 454 rumbles.

I just gotta say, from reading your signature that its sounds like you have one bad-*** car. Traction must be a b*tch. You are gonna have to share all your street racing stories this summer. Civic's wont know what hit them.

when i brought it out last summer guys tought it was still the 305 with just a new cowl hood. Suckers everyone seems to know the car now, so i can't really BS anymore. Unfortunantly there won't be many or ANY street kill stories. Cops are clamping down on racing, illegally modified vehicles, etc.

There is a vast improvement in traction with the Hoosiers, but i can still roast those at will. :P

Yeah i noticed that they've really got alot more coppers out now. There seems to be main areas though that i've noticed. They've really ramped up id say between Ferry Rd to Portage Place. Lots of cop there and that damn check stop last year at Domo. And Everywhere from Portage right to Kildonan Park seems to have lots of cops. However we've all invested in radar detecters as of late and has saved my butt twice that i can think of. As for a little rip down the road now and then i try to keep it in my own area cause i now where the pigs setup shop. Oh ya what would fall under Illegally modifyed??

my hood is illegal, exhaust to loud, fat skinnie tire combo (front tires have to be 60% of the rear) I could get nailed for where my tach is mounted. A red 68 Camaro i had the pleasure of working on last year got pulled over for whatever reason. He got a ticket for modifying factory suspension. This car wasn't a lowrider or anything, he got the ticket because of 1 1/2" rear lowering blocks. Then there was the gorgeous purple Nova at TIm's. He was parked in the lot, cops came in and towed his car. As the tow truck back up, the arm bumped the rear tires and the Nova started rolling away. Keep in mind Tim's was packed. We all jumped in front to stop the car before it almost hit a parked car. Some chick ( i think the guys GF) started freaking on the cops, they pushed the crowd back and toweed the car. Why did they tow it? he had a snorkel type hoodscoop. Cops rendered it unsafe cause it impairs his vision. Be careful at any of the local race spots this year. I hear there are going to be undercover cops taking plate numbers, and younger cops dressed as "cruisers"..........I can smell the entrapment suits now
