SLP Tri-Y Header Install Q's >>>
I recently bought a good set of SLP Tri-Y's from a member here named KeithA. I've had them hot dipped and they came out great! They look almost new I have some installation questions though.....
First, do I need the SLP cat adapter #30038 or do the old Tri-Y's not require this? Also, what's the deal with some of the bolt holes on the header having that small metal tube that is about 2 inchs long??? One last question, I only have 10 of the small SLP black bolts but there are 12 holes! I also noticed that even in SLP's own header installation kit they only include 10 bolts, like in this kit for my application:

WTF??? I also noticed that you can buy just bolts from SLP but when you do they include 12, WTF??? If I only need 10 for my application, what are the other 2 bolts I need???
Can someone please explain all of this to me?
Thanks,
Alex

I do believe you need to reuse 2 bolts. They aren't really bolts, they're studs and the accessory belt system bolts to these studs. It's something like that, I can't remember how we did it when I did the engine swap but that's what I remember. I do know that the longer 2" pipe is used with the braces for the belt system, that I'm sure about. I guess SLP expects you to reuse the studs.
Don't hold me too it but I think they are studs, I can't remember. I don't usually pay much attention to the bolts, just remembering where they go is enough stress let alone what they look like.
If you can't figure it out, I'll go out side and snap some pictures and post them. It's 20 degrees out but "feels like: 6" according to http://www.weather.com/weather/local/43201 so don't expect me to clean the engine bay before the pictures!

Alright cool, that makes perfect sense now that I think about it
Am I going to need the cat adapter with the Tri-Y's???? I plan on buying an aftermarket high-flow cat for my to install with the headers, how many inches long does the aftermarket cat need to be to work with the Tri-Y headers and the 31008 exhaust system??
Thanks!

Ok, I've been told I do not need the cat adapter but I plan on buying a 3 inch Car Sound high Flow cat but will that be good fit for the Tri-Y's and the 31008 exhaust system?? If not, what cat will be a good fit??? I ask because I don't see any where on the internet where it says how long the Car Sound cats are but I here that they are the best.....

I wish I new what would work best for ya. All I can say is that I've got a 3" gutted cat that botls right do the 3" SLP intermediate pipe and is just clamped onto the y-pipe. So it's definatly a 3" but I couldn't tell you if the y-pipe was 3" inner dia or outer.
I'm almost positive the y-pipe is 3" external diameter because that would make the most sence.
