take off the cat, get a long screw driver, or a broom stick, stab the cat, you will see a metal screen thingy come out along with black pellets. Once u're done, just put er back on.

better yet just have a straight pipe put in. lot better gains and sound from a straight pipe
cost you maybe 40-60 bucks
and also if they ever pass smog in your area you still have you cat so you dont have to go out and buy a new one

well I just took off the one end of the pipe. the other had a u-bolt and I know those never come apart and back together again. Im almost done. theres 2chunks that wont break up small enough to come out. and there is no metal screen and pellets. its like a light weight ceramic material with tiny holes all the way through.

You must have a monolithic cat then... They flow better then the older bed type but now that its gutted i dont think it really matters

I've had to use a hammer and a long metal spike to break monolithic cats, a broom won't do much here. Just think of it like having to break a chunk of old cement into small pieces.

I used a piece of steel rebar on mine but you would be better off just adding a hi-flow cat to it, it will sound better than a gutted cat and make more power also, a gutted cat causes a lot of turbulence unless you add a pipe inside it. I gutted mine when it went out and it sounded awful but after I put a good cat on it, I had more power and it sounded much better.
