Will the Flowmaster Cat Back 17233 fit on a pre-1986 Third Gen?
Thanks for checking out my thread! According to the Flow Master site (and others, such as Jegs), the Flowmaster 17233 Cat Back is designed for 1986 and later Third Gens.
I have a 1985 Camaro Z28 FYI.
Question: Has anyone installed this Cat Back in a pre-1986 Third Gen? Experience with this? Thoughts?
FYI, here is the Flowmaster 17233 kit that I am referring to: http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/?p...y2=&category3=

I'm going to shoot from the hip because I'm sick of looking things up in the book, but they're probably saying 86 & Up because when you get back to 85 the cat goes from the usual two bolt flange used on the later cars to the 4-bolt HO style cat.
If you change your cat, or feel like adapting the exhaust to mate up to what you have, it'll probably fit.

Zackly:
The system as a whole is the same; only difference is how it bolts to the cat.
Some of the arrangements, you could cut off whatever is there, and put on whatever you need. Hardest one to come up with these days is the 4-bolt deal such as was on the L69 and early LB9 cars. Wouldn't be hard to make though.
