Camaro headers- fitting other applications.
Hi guys,
Anybody here with 88-98 Chevy 4x4 experience regarding headers? I want to upsize my Edelbrocks for a new 383/FIRST/700r4 combo and there isn't a lot of serious headers that I'm interested in that are mid to full length (Stan's, Stainless Works). I am interested in Dyno Don's header as it has nice packaging and of course third gen is all he makes. I just recently ran across some forums where guys have interchanged headers between F bodies and 88-98 CK1500. These may be only the shorty style to factory Y, but if I ordered the Y unassembled.......I have more room to work than you guys, but the torsion bars and front driveshaft.....BTW the Edelbrocks may not perform but I had them coated and have given zero problems to date- may be forced to keep them. Any practical experience would be appreciated.

After dealing with 3rd gen LTs and CK1500 LTs, I doubt either would interchange. You might get lucky though

C1500 no problem, but I would think but the 4x4 would be a pita and I don't think my case warrants long tubes- mid length or shorty is what I'm looking at and after looking at many brands I was hoping Don's headers would fit. I was looking at Stan's tri-Y's and haven't called them but their description was $650 + Y-pipe + coating, might as well spring for a set of semi custom Stainless set for that outlay. The Y may be the problem but could order that in pieces and weld up later.

Comparing shorties they really look like they will interchange. I purchased a set of these flowtechs awhile back for my 92 k1500. great value just block the air tube hole. they are cerama coated 1 1/2 primary's so I'm sure your wanting 1 3/4.

Flowtechs were the fist manifold replacements I tried years ago- can't speak for their quality now but mine fell apart at the collectors. As bad as the feedback is on Edelbrocks mine have been good they are a low quality stainless steel version. Looking at different manufacturers each one has a feature I like but not all have all the features- one is the ball socket type collector at the Y this eliminates hassles, don't want chrome, thick flanges, etc.

If you put the truck headers flange to flange- does the outlets seem to be the same distance from center line or the engine block? I put a question into Dyno Don if he would consider making a copy of the passenger side- if it works it would be cheap r&d for another app.
