Dual Straight Pipe help 92 V8 RS

I have a 92 rs v8 camaro. I need help figuring out exactly what I need to do a dual straight pipe. I obviously know I'm gonna need a y pipe to split it out from one pipe. If someone could tell me the exact pipes I need it would be a world of help. Thanks

Why do you want to do this? Is there any way I can talk you out of it?

tbi 305 cars aren't exactly known to sound much better than an old pulp wood truck when uncorked...

a proper catback will do you wonders

3" intermediate pipe for under 300bux

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-680022/

2.5" intermediate pipe for 202.95...will be louder than stock, but won't support much HP gains

Re: Dual Straight Pipe help 92 V8 RS

If you want cheap and sounds good get a blowmaster 80 and have someone weld it on the tail pipe in place of the muffler you have. Way cheaper and sounds way better.

I run a modified 305TPI that has been straightpiped.

While personally I have never heard a straight piped TBI motor before and cannot comment on whether or not it sounds like raging ***, I do like the sound of my exhaust. Nothing satisfies the ears quite like popping it into neutral on a road in the middle of nowhere and revving the engine to redline.

HOWEVER, one thing to keep in mind is that they are LOUD! With a good aftermarket mufflered exhaust, they typically only scream at WOT and high RPM. With a straightpipe, It is like you are constantly getting on it ALL THE TIME! This is the one aspect of a straightpipe that can make it really not worthwhile.

We have a very laxed police system where I live and most of the county + all the town cops know me and typically don't target my car (Last week one of the town cops stopped in a turn lane and held up traffic to compliment how good the paint and bodywork turned out which should give you an idea). However, every time I want to goose it even a little bit leaving from a light or something so much as having to shift into 3rd/give it a little gas going up an incline I am always checking my mirrors because I am positive the noise could get me pulled if someone is having a bad day. Just my

Also in order to pull off the straightpipe sound the right way, you are going to need in the very least a decent cam and you HAVE to have a set of headers. Straightpipe + stock manifolds is going to sound like a piece of garbage.

BINGO.

Cars like that just need a decent chambered muffler and to go back on their merry way. Flowmaster, magnaflow, dynomax, all fine. If you want obnoxious without being a flagrant hillbilly you go flowmaster. Sounds decent.

my 305 TBI with a flowmaster:

But even with a cammed high performance engine, they're just WAY too loud to drive around with no mufflers. The only way you can drive around with straight pipes and not go deaf is if you are driving around in a 150hp engine, and even that will make you go deaf eventually.

What I found out is that was the deal with open headers. I could NOT STAND driving around with those things. Straight pipes are only moderately louder than a muffler inside the car. Outside the car is a different story...

Re: Dual Straight Pipe help 92 V8 RS

$225 and it's yours, The only thing it's missing is the tips and cat flange. Everything else is near perfect. I hardly even tightened down the clamps when it was installed. I bought it for $330 from Summit.

PM me and we can work out the details..

Thanks,
Dave

I found some good turndown tips and the 2 bolt cat flange in the garage earlier, let me know if you are still interested. I've got it for sale locally as well .
