classic chambered

somebody must have an opinion on this companies chambered exhaust!!
i am thinking about putting a 26" or 40" powerstick in where the cat goes. that straight line area. then putting just pipes where the stock muffler is. would a resonator be worth putting in the mufflers spot? if so which one??
i was thinking about Hooker 2055 heads, connecting them with y-pipe, and i have duel exhaust tips, fyi.
let me know your thoughts!

OR i was thinking of putting 2 right nxt to each, and each one takes one engine exhaust bank then putting a y-pipe just before i go up and over the rear axle? since they are quite cheap compared to GMMG

If it were me, I would swap your idea and put straight pipe where the cat went and the muffler where the stock muffler went. Otherwise you will end up with 5 feet of pipe after the muffler and that will not sound good.

Re: classic chambered

I've found that having a good length of tailpipe after the muffler tends to deepen the tone quite a bit.

I'd go for it, just lightly clamp it all together and if you don't like it you can change it around.

Just make sure your Y pipe is well made at the back, smooth transitions always help.

Re: classic chambered

I run these on my ls1 car and had one on my L98 back when it was bolt ons. Amazing sounding mufflers. Very mean and rumbly imo.

I gutted the cat and bought the medium powerstick which is 25-26" overall length, and stuck it in the i pipe section, before axle and after cat. Then ran piping up over axle and out rear bumper. Sounded deeep and very mean. I have a dyno vid and another somewhere online i can share.

I got two short powersticks on the trans am ls1 car. One at each bumper outlet. Its single 3" catback with cats on each header collector. It goes from single to dual 2.5" over axle and thats where my powersticks are. With 2 sticks and cats the car is quieter than slp loudmouth 2 i had on it but much better tone imo

Re: classic chambered

djd, I still don't know how you are going to be able to fit a pair of 40-inchers under there!

I thought about it and what I am going to do is put a 20" power stick where the cat goes and then put a resonator (classic chambered has a 12" resonator) at the end. Just a simple, single 3" exhaust.

Re: classic chambered

Idle and full song. Single 3" all the way back, medium Powerstick at stock location, no cat. I don't think I'd do it on a DD, though.

Re: classic chambered

Basically what the GMMG cat back is made out of.

Re: classic chambered

If you put a resonator after a muffler (like the ones that have the stock flow or idea) I put in summits 3in y-pipe and cat back system. No cat. How do classic chambered resonators reduce the noise when it's put after the muffler (part of tail pipe)?. When the muffler is doing the work just before the resonator and the muffler is the one that "drons" in the 1500 rpm range?

Re: classic chambered

why you want to add a resonator adding more work than its needed the longs the powerstick the quieter it is on alot of factory cars people remove the resonator to get a better tone and make it louder you can put two powerstick similar to gmmg to tone down the tone and another thing i thought resonators where put on before muffler idea is to tone down the exhuast i think srt 8 have like 4 resonators from factory

What type of sound or tone your trying to get if you want quieter muffler there are other muffler out there as powerstick is the loudest compared to all the catpack systems but about the same as gmmg
