cut-outs good/bad?

im running a 2.5" exhaust system with a y-pipe and a built carb'd 355, i was contemplating buying a cutout. i love the sound of a open exhaust but i cant help but to think that a cutout would just be like a massive exhaust leak. has any1 installed one on a y-pipe setup? how did u like it? thanks!

Re: cut-outs good/bad?

i did a lot of research and looking at my car and in the end i decided it wasnt worth it because the only place it would fit and sound good is where my CAT is but if you remove the CAT it would work and sound cool but in the end i just ordered a Pypes Violator muffler get the sound and save the hassle and money!

*use the search tab and there are tons of pictures with cut-outs installed and how to do it

I've had more fun with my cutout that I ever imagined. Buy a quality cutout, you'll love it....but just be respectful of your neighbors. It's ridiculously loud.

Re: cut-outs good/bad?

I have never seen/heard a cut out that did not leak over time. Sure they seem like a cool idea, but not worth it too me. My car is just loud all the time LOL!

Re: cut-outs good/bad?

I'm happy with mine, I just open it when trying to free up a little HP in a race. I installed mine where that cats were. I agree, get a quality cutout. I first went with the Summit brand and its junk from china. I went through 2 of the Summit brand Chinese junk, both started leaking within days. I then upgraded to the QTP cutout and I'm very happy with it.

Why not just run a Brola with no plate.

Its a lot nicer to make it not as loud by just the push of a switch
