What Headers?

I have a 91' 305 TPI. My car has a nice exhaust note coming from the muffler, but I want my car a little louder though, just enough so It gets a little loud when I step on it, also I would like a little more power aswell.

Also are aftermarket headers a direct bolt in?
I'm on a high school budget, so what are my options?

Thanks

As long as they are designed for 82-92 Camaro you should have no problem. But it does depend on if you will be keeping your smog air tubes or not. I have a set of Hedman 1 5/8 shorties and Y pipe on my car without the air tubes. I removed all the smog stuff from my car when I did this. They fit great and mount to the factory cat. I will be selling them soon as I am going LS1.

Re: What Headers?

the set that coptzer mentioned is one of your better options , or hooker 2460s are good too. for your high school budget, flowtechs are real cheap but ive heard nothing but bad things about them, but its up to you on that one. since he mentioned the air tubes, id get normal headers without them cuz theyre pretty pointless, plus its hard to find a real good set of headers that do have the air tubes, but theyre out there.

The 2210s fit great and make the most power.

Re: What Headers?

Thanks for the input

Will the hooker 2460s fit the stock Y pipe?

Are there any headers that fit the stock y pipe?

Flowtech shorties are a nightmare in one way or another. I made that mistake, but was lucky enough to be putting them on when the engine was out of the car. Even then, they were a pain to torque down (due to clearance issues), a couple of the spark plugs are now awkward to replace, and (unless you get lucky and find the other style mounting bracket for your power steering pump) you will have to modify and/or buy/make a bracket for the PS pump in order to install correctly. They also had a bunch of welding slag on them, didn't have the O2 hole drilled, finish is garbage, etc. Sadly, you will find a lot of them in the "Scratch and Dent" section at Summit because people tried to make them fit. Although they have done a decent job since, I would go else where for headers.
