Need to put new exhaust tips on the '89 Formula (the previous owner trashed the ones that are on now). What is the inlet size?


Also, how long I want it to be so the weld point doesn't show? I want it to stick out the back of the car just a little tiny bit.


I'm looking for a slash cut tip in matte black (not looking for at outlet size you could kick a soccer ball down!...too *****) if anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Buy some stock tailpipes that tuck up under the car. leave the chrome clown tips for other cars.

Inlet size of what part?? stock muffler? aftermarket? the mid pipe? the tail pipes? what exactly are you putting together?
what ever your putting together you need to measure it and see what it is.

Sorry, I'm not a mechanic, I'm infantryman, so kinda a knuckle-dragger I measured the pipe where the old beat up tips are welded. I assume is the tail pipe, is there some place else you'd attach tips? It looks like 3 inches just wanted to be sure so I can order the right part.

Gotcha. Your going to have to measure it.
I think stock tail pipes are 2.25-2.5, so if you have 3" your not prolly not stock.

Yeah, the original owner put a flowmaster on there, so probably not stock, its measuring 3in.

Its a 2.5 inch inlet. The previous owner stretched the pipe for tips that are on there now. I'm also going further back with it so you don't see the weld. I want matte black, not a huge fan of "matte black vien" but the price is right and the ones on the the car now look terrible. I'm looking into the tips in the specs and photo below.

Alright, I ordered the above exhaust tips, I got them for like 1/2 price, even a little less. Can't beat that. They should be in this week, and I'm going to learn how to weld tomorrow.

My Exhaust Tips came in today. They are discribed as having a "black vein" finish but they just look smooth matte black to me, which is what I wanted anyway. They look a little bigger than what I was looking for but the price on ScamBay was unbeatable and we'll see how they look on. I held them up to the old exhaust tips and they looked pretty crazy under there. Like they belong on the Batmobile...and I do dig comics. They go on tomorrow morning...after I learn how to weld.
