2 Questions: SLP resonator and y pipe
Hello:
I am a new owner of a 99 Trans AM. It has an SLP resonator or Bullet on it. I have attached a picture, but I do not know which one it is. The car is VERY loud in my opinion and I need to quiet it. If it's the resonator one, I'll try the bullet. If it's the bullet, I'll try a muffler of some sort.
Also:
There is a "kink" in the Y pipe. How much of a problem is this (if any)?
Thanks and looking forward to learning about this car.
Please see the attached files.

Re: 2 Questions: SLP resonator and y pipe
well, first not to be rude, that is a 4th gen fbody, this is a 3rd gen site.. ls1tech will have everything u can think of..
second, the kink in the pipe, alters and hinders exhaust flow to an extent, its not an emergency, just more annoying to know its there. the slp "resonators" are hollow inside. loud too, i had it on my 01 SS with heads and cam set up and i pulled it. I replaced it with a moroso spiral flow, cheap, and not quite as loud as the SLP, but as long as you keep that type of muffler/resonator, the car will be loud.. check the other site and good luck
