will bends in the exhaust hurt performance?
i am building my exhaust out of mandrel bends. i am doing 2.5 into a single 3.5 all the way back. i have the rear section all made and can be seen in my other thread( bought the wrong muffler so i dont have a typical camaro exhaust.)
my question is; will running 2- 90 degree bends by the pinion hurt my performance? they will be mandrel bends also. if so, i know i can get the same results with 3- 45 bends. these will be 3.5 inch also if that matters
the motor will be around 375 hp at the flywheel

i can get away with a single 90 bend if i angle my 45 degree pipe differently, so i will go that route.

Re: will bends in the exhaust hurt performance?
Im not positive, but Im pretty sure tehy do affect things. Exhaust is all about velocity. Get that crud out of there as quick as the engine makes it. Every bend will slow it down. But what's also true is that the farther from the exhaust valve you get, the less important the exhaust becomes. The effective tuned lenght matters, of course, but some bends at the axle are going to have a far lesser effect than the bends in/after your headers.
So I'd minimize them ,but dont fret too much over it.

more bends = more restrictions, less velocity, less performance. In your case, 2 90 degree mandrel bends in 3.5" pipe on a 375 hp motor - your not going to have an issue or lose any appreciable power

great thanks guys, just what i wanted to hear.
i was all worried i would choke the motor using 90s but its all mandrel bent not crush bent.
