Helmholtz Resonators on a thirdgen
These are rarely used by the asian and euro car drivers.... the product claims to use the helmholtz resonance to scavenge exhaust faster.. achieving power gains. One way to explain how the resonance works is to blow inside a bottle like cavity... the air coming in will create a higher pressure inside that will push the air out faster than when it came in...
How do you guys think it would work on third gen?
I've seen test mag where it gave a stock 350Z Around 15hp and 10tq...
I'll look for it. Here are some pictures that I found online:

they can work well (saw a few G8 guys run them), but you need to tune their length to the specific application. for us, it would be a bit more difficult do the layout and space where we would be putting out muffler(s)

Re: Helmholtz Resonators on a thirdgen
Knowing that they can work with a V8 gives me hopes as I am willing to spend on testing... I was thinking of buying flowmaster piping (not by selection but for the cost) ask my friend for his welder and help.
Is there a way to test the exhaust flow at the tips?... I may purchase a flow meter if that's the correct name.
The space will definitely be limited... I was thinking positioning the resonator(s) before the muffler.. or maybe after it will create better scavenging effects,
All planing for now but it's something I definitely plan to try

How does that thirdgen do?... do you know the engine combo catback?,... something like the GMMG unit would be interesting to try (and hear)

Re: Helmholtz Resonators on a thirdgen
I should have asked for more detail... that's a pretty good time!.. do you know what's the diameter of the exhaust piping/config?
Thank you for your reply... this is not something that I just tough would be "cool" doing... but that I'm planning on starting soon

Dyno Don 1 3/4 inch shorty headers slightly modified. 2 3/4" collector pipes into the exhaust expansion chambers. 3" exiting the expansion chambers to the catalytic converters. 3" out of the catalytic converters to a Flowmaster "Y" pipe. A single 3.5" pipe exiting the Flowmaster "Y" pipe and over the axel into a Magnaflow 3.5" muffler.
